I just want to talk about how Gudako/Gudao does have a defined personality outside of the character’s self insert.

Gudako gets dropped from the fucking sky screaming JUUUUSTIIIICE attempting to fucking elbow drop Quetz. They empathize with so many characters that no matter what dialogue option you choose, you’re more or less a hero to these servants who live their lives in total servitude to often douchebags. Gudako treats servants like people– not with sparkly eyed admiration or coldly using them as tools. Even when the singularity is over, Gudako wants all of them to survive until the end, even if their sacrifices are necessary or just make sense if they’ll just disappear anyway.

Gudao/ko has a great sense of humor, a really kind personality, doesn’t tolerate bullshit and deeply cares about their kouhai along with all the servants they meet along the way. It’s no wonder that these servants come to love them, too– no one is a tool to Gudao/ko. The Solomon singularity is especially telling of how deep their values go, and Gudao/ko isn’t so much of a self insert as a reflection of what you’re feeling through the game– when Mash uses her noble phantasm against Goetia, it hits hard.

They’re a self insert, sort of, in the sense that your empathy as a player is their empathy. They don’t have asshole speaking options (outside of occasionally being rude). But otherwise they’re a kind and just character that earns everything you earn in the game. Every victory feels like a relief, every loss hits hard.

praise be to gudao/ko, a really good fate protagonist

LBH: I feel so blessed right now

SQQ: I hope he doesn’t come and kick my ass when he finds out that the first manual he got was bogus.

I started reading Scum Villain three days ago and I caught up with the current translated  chapters! OMG it’s funny but overall scary. Honestly poor SQQ… I  didn’t really feel glad with LBH reappearance (althoug he was so cute at the begining of the story), I could only feel fear/panic and even I (My family) caught myself whispering f*ck f*ck f*ck to my cellphone hahaha

It’s refreshing so far!

In chapter 54 of scum villain, there’s a passage where SQQ says, “I’ve been buried in the soil for five years.”

And in return, SQH says, “Didn’t you say you wanted [SQQ’s plant body] to mature as soon as possible?”

So now I’m here just scratching head, wondering if the whole “WWX burying Wen Yuan to make him grow faster” thing from MDZS is just another weird reference to SV.

Since the Scum Villain anime is releasing in… god knows when, I decided to bite the bullet and do self indulgent designs for the two main characters.
