I'm sitting on a backlog of unposted artwork since last year, and only have recently scraped together some free time to catch up with tidbits in my to-do list! It's out of order, but I'm posting the artwork I provided @illumicrate as a bonus print for their edition of The Familiar by @lbardugo -- because it's very leafy, and I've been recently enjoying planting some new annuals for my neighborhood pollinators! A scene from early in the book with Luzia is reviving a withered grape vine as a demonstration with her singing. (captured in foil!) This was such a fun set of character designs, for two very fun characters. Luzia and Santángel are like a pair of spicy cats meeting for the first time before eventually seeking each other's warmth for naptime. Santángel especially, I wanted to capture in his expression the stirring curiosity pushing out through his exhaustive apathy. More art dumps to come!

JOMP BPC - 15th May - Time Period

This is a lovely book, designed to encourage and support you to draw every day for 100 days. Every few days there's a new theme, and the author, Jennifer Orkin Lewis, gives an example page of ways you might explore each theme, including lots of silly and imperfect examples so you don't get too caught up in trying to do the perfect piece of art. She then follows that with a set of pages that have little helping shapes or lines or colours to make it easy for you to add to. For each theme, you start with lots of supports and guidance and that reduces day by day until the last day of that theme which gives you pretty much a blank page with a suggestion of what you might draw there.

I come from a science background, not an arts one, and I don't really have much artistic ability, but I found this book fun and stress-free - I just felt like I was playing :-)

Darcy's first proposal is a clusterfuck on so many levels, and I love it, but I think my favorite is how much shit he talks about the Bennets. None of it is untrue, but also, real bold words for you to say to a woman who is currently being forced to spend weeks on end socializing with your insufferable aunt, Fitzwillaim. That's a nice glass house you got there. Would be a shame if someone... threw stones.

Oh it is okay to bother you with questions huh?! Will you be replying to those questions in *checks calendar* 3 - 6 months? 🧐

Have you started watching A Gentleman in Moscow yet?

Avatar

that was the old me, I’ve evolved. 2024 is the year of answering asks, pinky promise

Sadly, I haven’t watched it yet. I’m waiting for it to stream somewhere else than paramount. I did start Lessons in Chemistry though!

I must sleep. Sleep is the mind-healer. Sleep is the big-life that brings total ability to fucking do anything. I will face my bed. I will permit the blankie to pass over me and snores to pass through me. And when sleep has gone past I will turn the outer eye to greet the new morning. When the sleep has gone there will be everything. Energy and will to live will remain.
