“Brock! Honey? I’m home!” You screamed, entering your house. Putting your bags next to the coffee table in your living room. You frowned; you saw your boyfriend’s car in the driveway, and he doesn’t work. Like at all. He said he liked taking care of the house and being a “house boyfriend.” So he is definitely at home, yet he wasn’t answering.

“Babbeeee! C’mon, I just got back.” You rolled your eyes. He probably is playing fucking video games, like fucking always. You heard noises coming from your bedroom. You frowned at them. It sounded like Brock.

“Brock?” You said, opening the door to your bedroom to see your boyfriend in his white briefs, hair messed up and panting. The bed was a mess; your pillow was on the floor.

“Y/N! Weren’t you supposed to arrive tomorrow, sweetheart?” He asked, blocking the bathroom door. You frowned again; he was acting stranger than usual.

“Didn’t you get the message? The last speaker didn’t show up, and they decided to wrap it up early. Kinda glad because there is so much I could hear about web security.” You joked; he let out a forced chuckle. He seemed nervous, still blocking the door to the bathroom.

“Uhm, could you move? I really need to shower.” You said, trying to move your semi-naked boyfriend out of the way.

“No! Uhm, there’s a giant dog- I mean rat in there.” He stuttered, trying to turn you away from the door. You rolled your eyes; this man is the worst liar on earth. He once told you that he couldn’t go out with your friends because he wanted to have a date night. The date night included you guys staying at home, eating pizza, and him playing call of duty all night. Nat almost punched him when she showed up and saw you dressed to the nines and a screaming Brock in a dirty shirt.

“Yeah, sure. Now move. I want to take a shower.” You pushed him a bit, and he lost his footing and almost fell. You opened the door to see a woman, naked and wearing your robe. The fluffy one Brock bought you as a sorry for missing your birthday to go to a Red Sox game.

You recognize her. She was the new bartender of the little hole-in-the-wall bar Brock, and his college buddies loved hanging out.

“Oh hi, Y/N! What are you doing here?” She said, in the most overly nice tone. With no facial reaction or words, you closed the door at her face. And turned to Brock, who was cowering in the corner.

“Really? And here I thought you couldn’t be an even bigger piece of shit.” You fumed, ignoring his pleas of forgiveness.

Series Summary: From childhood friends, to highschool sweethearts, the two naive, young, and lovestruck teens decided the best way to keep a strong relationship during college would be to marry right out of highschool. No one batted an eye at the idea as everyone knew they were soulmates. However, college is a big step in a person’s life. You learn new things about yourself, you make new friends, find new hobbies… And maybe being newly weds and going to different colleges across the states wasn’t the best plan… After a falling out, a tragic and heartbreaking divorce, the two now despise the other for how the whole thing was handled. Neither not really knowing both sides of the story. 10 years later, and they both get a call from the lawyers office that settled their divorce. Somehow the papers never went through and the divorce was never completed. So now, the exes, or should we say husband and wife, have to meet back up after all these years to settle their failed marriage once and for all. (This summary will be shorter in other chapters. I just needed to get the full concept out there;)

A/N: So the other day while I was doing my hair (quite the process), I was playing music and the song Moral of the Story by Ashe came on. Mind you, I’ve heard this song hundreds of times, but for some reason, this time I got a major story idea! Listening to the lyrics brought me to this new series. Of course, the lengthy summary above will give you an idea of what came to my brain, but I recommend you listen to the song still because it plays a big part in my thought process:) (Plus it’s a good song;) Enjoy and please do not hesitate to share your thoughts and comments with me! As if she had never felt the emotion of nervousness in her life, she flowed through the crowd of friends, acquaintances, and strangers like she was the Queen of England. For all Bucky knew, she had gotten lessons from the Queen herself while she was over there. That’s how good she was at acting at least.

She didn’t seem the least bit uncomfortable, overwhelmed, or tense at the crowds of people taking up the backyard. Although, some people were good at masking. 

“She’s having fun,” Steve smiled while at the grill. They had just made a ton of burgers and hot dogs and the whole party scarfed them down just as fast as they were made. Now the blonde was cleaning and putting a few things away to help make clean up easier. “Both of them are,” he nodded to his mom who was laughing with some old family friends.

“You’re sure I look good?”

Nat groans and climbs off your couch reluctantly, grabbing you by the shoulders and stopping you from pacing anymore.

“You look gorgeous.” You bite your bottom lip nervously, hands itching to come up to your mouth.

Your hair is pushed behind your ears, natural and beautiful, and your makeup is light. Adorning your body is a simple light blue dress that stops just above your knees, as well as a beige cardigan that hangs loosely off of your shoulders.

Nat grabs you a pair of beige heels and shoves them into your hands.

“Put your shoes on and stop worrying. He’s on his way up so even if you didn’t look good there’s no time to change now.” You nod, taking a few deep breaths before crouching down and putting your shoes on. Right as you’re doing up the clasp around your ankle there’s a knock on your door.

You freeze in place, looking at Natasha in absolute terror, and she rolls her eyes.

“It’s open!” She calls. You shake your head, one shoe on and the other off as you run to your bedroom.

“I can’t,” you whisper as the door starts to open. Hiding away in your bedroom, you listen to Nat greet Bucky.

“She’s almost ready. Just needs to grow a pair,” The redhead says loudly, her footsteps clomping towards the bedroom door.

She whips it open, ready to give you an earful, but when she sees the genuine fear on your face she reconsiders.

“Beans, you’re gonna be okay. He’s a real gentleman and he won’t do anything that you don’t want to do, I promise.” You take a few deep breaths, trying to hold back tears.

“What if I get hurt again, Nat? I don’t think I could handle it.” The weak whimper that leaves you has her heart shattering in her chest.
