Housing Help

I am creating a new post because my last post gained no traction and may have been a long read. I was evicted in early June late May because my rent was 20 days late in May. I had to live out of my car during June because I needed to save up money for housing. A lawyer friend wrote a stipulation that if I paid $3400, I could stay until the end of June, but I was about two hundred dollars short, and the police were called to remove me from my property. Fast forward to last month, and I received notice that I owe the remainder of the lease term because there are virtually no tenant protections, and I have to pay what I would have paid if this evil landlord had never evicted me. I offered to pay this in installments, but that would require us to go to court, and I would have to pay their legal and court fees (I have to pay this total by the end of the month). Because my housing situation has been unstable this last year, I have had three garnishments on my wages, and an overpayment caused me to be about $400 short of paying half of this bill. My current lease is six months, and I’m not in a position to ask if I can pay rent late again, so I hope to raise 400 plus the cost of the rent. This total amount comes out to $1650. I am just hoping for a hail mary here, because if I can get to at least half of this, It would be a miracle.

I lost my grandmother last month, and I got kicked out of her house. I'm in debt because of her funeral and homeless as of today (08/Sept/2022).

For the last 3 weeks I've been living in my car and it wasn't that bad, but today my car's AC stopped working. Where I live the weather's still really hot. Today we hit 103 °F

I work part time, and I'm a college student, so I haven't been able to save enough to find a place.

I know this is annoying and is my problem and no one else's, but please, if you can help with anything, I really appreciate it. Life has been a shit show lately, I'm so tired and I don't know what to do.

I'm getting pretty desperate. Our gofundme is at $50/$3,000, our wishlist hasn't been touched, none of our posts have gained any traction. My pinned post has all the details of our situation, but the rundown is one of my closest friends Chris became homeless a few months ago, he's chronically ill, disabled and can barely function on his own and now he's living in a car that barely runs. He can't clean up, do first aid on cuts and scrapes, make food, he barely sleeps because it's so uncomfortable, there's no heat or AC, the wiring to the locks is faulty so some of his doors don't lock, the car is unsafe to be on the road, but we can't afford anything better right now. We desperately need funds to get him a van that we can convert to a real living space. If you can't donate, PLEASE reblog, this situation was dire to begin with and it keeps getting worse and worse. My mom and I had to take out a bunch of loans to cover expenses and now we have nothing for rent. My mom is $600 overdrawn and I'm $140. We'll be getting our monthly payments soon but it's all going to be eaten up by loans that still need to come out.

I need to come up with $1,300 (which is rent plus PayPal fees) by August 3rd. This is an emergency, as three disabled people live in my apartment and there is no way we can survive homelessness again.

Fingers crossed, I managed to get everything to the point where all we need is $162. If I can get that before 5PM I should be able to get the money order and drop it off before the office closes.

TL;DR my homeless friend is in desperate need of help -

I have a post up already about this but I'm trying all my options here so here's a shorter post. My friend Chris is in a dire situation. He's homeless, disabled, sleeping in a car in the woods, barely surviving. I set up a GoFundMe for him with more of his story and have an Amazon wishlist for anyone who wants to help. If you can't donate, sharing this post would mean a lot. It might honestly save a life. Thank you.

UPDATE:

I got to spend the day with Chris this past Tuesday! It was nice and I finally got to get him a blanket, some pillows and some new (thrifted 😅) clothes, and he got all of his things washed and was able to shower and clean up. I got him a few meals while he was here and gave him some nonperishables too.

Bad part:

Car is absolutely falling apart.

The biggest concern, and the thing I can't get a picture of, is the front left ball joint. It's worn out almost to its breaking point. If that fails while driving it'll essentially cause the wheel to detach from the car. At any decent speed this will almost certainly cause total loss of control to the car and cause an accident. At a high speed the car might flip or spin out uncontrollably and cause a fatal accident. This car could potentially harm not only Chris but others if something isn't done soon. This whole situation seems to go from bad to worse every week.

We are looking at a few vans locally this weekend. We obviously don't have the funds to buy anything yet, but I'm holding out hope. Thank you! ❤️
