Lets do a little group children's story together, it'll be like a cool collab, I'll go first: Once upon a time there was a little worm who lived in a biiig apple, his name was Stephenson and he had anxiety (aww)

I eat him

What the fuck

The most terrifying part of having memory issues is when you can feel something from 5 seconds ago be thrown out the window and there's an empty hole where it once was. You remember that you forgot something.

I can’t stop thinking about how Nadia finally finds the missing Krugerrands but she’s carrying baby Nadia. She can’t carry both if she wants to get out of there, so she chooses herself and leaves the gold that she’s been searching for all season. Abandon the trauma, you’re the only one you can depend on. Literal, but so effective.

Russian Doll really said okay we fixed self-destructive behavior and isolation, let’s tackle intergenerational trauma next

when russian doll said, "trauma is a topographical map written on the child, and it takes a lifetime to read" and the story of russian doll is Nadia being cornered by the universe into deciphering that map because if she doesn't then her time left in the world will decay. when succession said, "the past isn't real" and "maybe the poison drips through" and it's a story about how undeciphered trauma is corrosive, an all-consuming invasive force that left unchecked rots even it's own foundation regardless of your belief in its validity. the way both shows are cautionary tales about, among many other things, the work you have to do to make sure the trauma passed along to you doesn't take you. they're so special to me <3

Any character portrayed by Natasha Lyonne, experiencing horrors beyond human comprehension: “Oh, hello, very good, okay then, understandable. Horrors, horrors, horrors, et cetera, I’ll be getting the fuck out of here now, thank you for your time.”

not that either is a good thing but there is a small cosmic sort of irony to appreciate in the way that the russian invasion of ukraine and the most recent nakba happened so close together and how they through comparison made it undeniably clear how much the definition of war crime and genocide and atrocity &etc depends on the geopolitical interests of the imperial core

It was stupid good. So good in fact that the bbc filmed a version and put it on dvd when it debuted. I bought that dvd after I saw the show and put it up on the Internet Archive. The audio is not great but the dancing is spectacular. Ever see a pas de deux around an anatomical dissection? You will.
