In case nobody else has done it, here’s the link to a petition to keep TRR as it is, as apparently the new version is a ‘test’
This is the Liam that made me keep reading this book the first time around and then come back for a second, third, and fourth time. He was honest, committed to his country, and not interested in playing games when he thought he didn’t have a future MC.
Liam didn’t try to keep secrets or mess with MC’s head by trying to make her jealous. He didn’t go skinny dipping or do anything stupid because his sense of duty wouldn’t let him.
He was just a sweet guy who was amazed by a girl who did something nice for him and didn’t see him for his title.
The original TRR had flaws. Pretty gaping flaws - the most obvious being the treatment of Hana and the preference for Drake, the way that Liam’s character building is often brushed over, the storyline and worldbuilding inconsistencies and the writers’ tendency to focus on balls and parties rather than actual plot of substance. If the writers had chosen to fix any of these issues, I’d have been FINE with it. Go and make it possible for the MC to turn down Liam before his elaborate proposal. Go and give Hana the story she deserves - add a couple of scenes where we get to explore Liam’s feelings and backstory in some greater depth. Add scenes at the beginning for MC to improve her relationship with Maxwell. Those would all have been useful rewrites that would make the experience of playing the game so much better.
What doesn’t make sense is that they’ve taken a story that fans know and love - their most successful story to date - and rewritten it to something completely unrecognizable. Instead of fixing the flaws in the writing, they’ve exacerbated them by creating inconsistent character development and literally worsening the problems they already had.
The Pixelberry team does not value TRR and its characters. They see it purely as a cash grab, an easy way for them to make money. Instead of investing in new books, new compelling stories, they are choosing to spend resources on this.
@playchoices - please do release a statement addressing this soon. It’s entirely disrespectful to the people who have been supporting Choices and TRR from the beginning.
Not this manipulative, stinky asshole. WHO IS HE??!
#Notmyliam
I’ve always tossed between choosing Hana or Liam.
The Royal Clusterfuck seems to make that choice so much easier.
Old Liam: *Time freezes when he sees you. Buys you flowers and takes you dancing under the stars for a first date. Would do anything to make you happy. Shows restraint. Literally a ball of sunshine. The kindest, most compassionate man to ever exist*
New Liam: *Probably slides into your DMs with a 🍆 pic* Haha lol I just wanted to make you jealous lol,, no hard feelings 😎😤 right bro 😔🤑 bro I just wanted to test you bro 😏 see if you can hang 🤔😎 also I have walls now 😔 I'm so angsty bro,,, all the ladies want me I could get anyone I wanted brooo 😎

I agree. 100%
Okay so I keep trying to figure out why trr 2.0 is only available for new players, and I think I got it.
So when I worked for verizon we used to have these “but one get one free, and free tablet” deals. The reason they would do this and eat the cost of the devices is that a “new line” shows growth that they can show their investors increasing stock price and adding value to their company as a “growing company”
What if PB is doing the same thing. We have to make a new account to play the new trr to see this train wreck for ourselves. And what better allure than to change the most beloved choices character as that would get us all talking about it, making more people create “new” accounts. Especially with it being in the last quarter of the year. It kinda sound like they’re strategically buffing their account numbers to show a “growth” for any potential investors.
That or they know most people who already love trr Liam would be pissed that he got retconned and would want their OG Liam. Either is likely at this point.
