Corazón loved a little boy who hated the world so much, that same little boy started to love the world back simply because he was loved by one clumsy, imperfect person.

Law doesn’t love the world in the sense that Corazón did, whose love bled from his heart and down into his sleeves. But sometimes love comes in the form of hope, and trust. And no matter how the world tries to take those things from Law, he will always hold them in a place where no one can take them from him.

Because he was loved, and he loves.

Luffy may have fought his way out of a horrible prison and through a deadly war just to have Ace die anyway, but god damn it, Luffy's effort to save his brother was not a waste. Ace was treated like a monster by society from the day he was born, to the point that he hated every part of himself too and didn't see a reason for living, but his last words to Luffy were "Thank you for loving me."

Thank you for loving me.

Thank you for loving me.

Luffy's love was never, ever in vain. Portgas D. Ace died knowing that he was loved, his body held securely in the arms of someone who'd spent ten years trying to convince Ace that he was worthy of it.

Love is never wasted.

It's insane how casually the calls to end a genocide, not just the students in Columbia University but pro Palestinian views in general, are labelled as terrorists. The audacity to still publicly support Israel's actions even after the horrific bombings these last months and then turn around to say that the ones who oppose it are violent anti semites is just baffling

I’m kinda curious how they translate this joke in English, actually, because the comedy in Japanese comes from the fact that Ace and Luffy just straight up SUCK at choosing appropriate ‘you’ pronouns. Makino is TRYING to get them to say ‘hello, what’s your name?’ but neither of them can think of an actual polite way to say ‘you.’

Ace starts with teme, which is so hostile it’s essentially a swear word, and Luffy tries to correct him to omae, which is less rude but still really not polite (and also what Luffy uses to address literally everyone in the present), and then Ace tries onore, which is less commonly used than teme but ALSO super angry/derogatory.
