if iwaizumi hajime said that he wasn’t used to emotional responses from the people closest to him, he’d be the biggest liar of all time.

knowing oikawa for as long as he had, he’d almost come to expect the cycle of responses based off their games, their grades, or even minor inconveniences. his friend was strong, sure, but he knew what to expect from the childish setter.

but you. he didn’t know what to expect when you, the strongest person he knew, appeared at his doorstep.

behind you, the darkening hues of evening brought out the shadows in your face, and he could see the weight of the sadness you held on your shoulders.

oikawa tooru traced you with his eyes when you walked into a room. there was something about your presence that was transformative to him — everything about the space just changed with your very existence.

like any university student would do, he saunters over to your seat, taking his place next to you. you throw him a polite smile (nothing too crazy) and he spends the lecture taking notes and wondering if he can learn your name.

eventually, this silent flirtation with oikawa becomes too obvious, and you extend an offer to be friends.

“you’re smart,” you reason with him one afternoon after a particularly difficult lecture. “you’re top of the class. i need that spot. you know what they say. keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.”

he spends his time at the library with you marveling at your traits. the choice of pen, the way you smooth over your hair when it gets too messy. he loves the way you furrow your brow when something’s a bit too tough.

and you, you loved tooru for his determination. loved him for the way he motivated you during midterms and treated you to ice cream when you felt down.

one day, the two of you are on a park bench, and oikawa thinks he’s found the piece to his puzzle. he’s hesitant, and a bit shaky (only you could do that to him) as he whispers his confession into the spring air.

you giggle your affirmation and kiss him sweetly on the lips.

My favorite thing about Lockwood is the fact that he tries so hard to be cool but he is literally an actual human disaster and sixteen, so whenever he makes a slick one liner he’s internally going “yessss that was SO cool, I nailed that” and then Lucy and George are cheering in the background because they also think he’s So cool. But Holly and Kipps both absolutely do not, because they are full legal adults so they’re like “oh my gosh the cringe rn, I can’t believe this is my boss”

israel is refusing to take back the hostages because they don't care about their citizens, getting back the hostages was never a goal in the first place (demolishing gaza is), and they don't want to deal with the hostages speaking up about their experiences and clearly contradicting all the "hamas are barbaric terrorists who mass rape women and behead children" bullshit

And before anyone comments I’m just saying this because I’m Palestinian - my mom is actually not Palestinian. She’s not any variety of arab/middle eastern or anything. She’s literally American and didn’t speak a word of Arabic yet. She hadn’t even reverted to Islam yet at the time she was in Gaza and she was traveling by herself. And you know what happened?

Palestinians in Gaza welcomed her into their homes. They made her tea. She played with Palestinian children in the streets. She has pictures she’s shown me of the kids showing her their cats. All she talks about whenever I would ask her about Gaza is how kind and generous the Palestinians there were to her and made her very comfortable. Do you know who actually treated her like shit? Do you know who actually made her feel unsafe and berated her and threatened her?
