while i'm breaking my silence I also have to say how fucking funny all of the art/writing depicting simon petrikov as an edgy hottie badboy academic is to me. like this guy is an absolute loser. just a sopping wet shaking greyhound of a man. in my head he's like. he's like maybe 5' 9'' and has dressed like a middle aged academic since middle school. he doesn't really know how to have conversations about anything other than anthropological publications on ritualistic sacrifice or geological formations and writes himself a script when he has to call and make a dentist appointment

Can someone explain to me why any criticism to Israeli government and to its supporters, is considered antisemitic?

I am genuinely asking. Because I never thought that criticising a government has anything to do with the religion/race/country.

I’m glad you’re willing to learn! Please be critical of those Zionists in your replies. Zionists have a vested interested in conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism, in order to dismiss justified criticism of Israel.

Many Jewish Holocaust survivors are currently describing Israel’s actions as genocide. Because it is a genocide. Many Jewish organizations condemn Israel, many Jewish academics are furiously condemning Israel. Conflating antisemitism and antizionism is a dishonest insidious way of dismissing criticisms of Israel. It’s a disgusting way of misappropriating the language of social justice and struggles against antisemitism to justify the horrific atrocities Israel is committing. To quote a Jewish defender of Palestine in an article I linked above:

“Israel claims Jews as its national asset, and it weaponises us, as Jews – both as bodies in the demographic battle vis-a-vis non-Jews and particularly Palestinians, and ideologically as born representatives of the Jewish state – [and] seeks to do that to Jews worldwide,” Ofir told Al Jazeera. “That claim, in turn, makes [us] the human shields of the state, as it assaults Palestinians under its settler-colonialist agenda, be it through ongoing ethnic cleansing, through siege or through seasonal massacres.”
“This war is a war on children. It is a war on their childhood and their future,” said UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, who described as “staggering” the latest Gaza health authority data indicating that at least 12,300 youngsters have died in the enclave in the last four months, compared with 12,193 globally between 2019 and 2022.

Criticizing this is not antisemitic. Israel’s genocide of Palestinian civilians is horrific. Punishing an entire ethnic group because of some ‘terrorists’ among them is called “collective punishment” and is a war crime. Israel’s politicians and press are often gleeful and glib about the deaths of Palestians because they fundamentally do not see them as human beings. Hamas was not hiding in any of the hospitals they bombed to the ground, they were not any of the thousands of young children and babies they massacred with their indiscriminate bombing.

I remember hearing a harrowing story on NPR about a mother from Gaza who was admitted to the ‘hospital’ with massive agonizing third degree burns all across her body; her child had been set on fire by Israel’s bombs, and she had tried to put him out.

Criticizing Israel’s heinous atrocities is not antisemitic and anyone pretending it is, is deliberately misleading you.
