“Terra…?” Eve called tentatively from the bathroom. She stared at herself in the mirror, utterly confused. “It’s not Halloween or anything yet, right?” She asked as she touched her cheek, her skin had taken on the quality of bark. A light brown that wasn’t unpleasant, but strange. Her hair hung around her face, green like leaves and peppered with flowers. The only word that came to mind was wood nymph, but it didn’t make any sense. She didn’t feel different. She still had all her powers as far as she could tell.
The woman returned the smile, settling back for a few hours rest before they made landfall. It was difficult to sleep with so many questions buzzing in her head but she focused on how she’d soon see her son to block everything else out. Eventually she opened her eyes to discover she’d fallen asleep without realising it but before she could shake the sleep from her eye, she spotted it. “Land!” She gasped, pulling herself to her feet for a better look.
Eidyia breathed a sigh of relief once she saw the island. Wearily, she guided all the boats towards it. Seeing Theodore on the shore, she raised a hand in greeting.
“I have returned.”

Eidyia tapped her foot impatiently as she looked out of the window of the waiting room. She was now expected to wait after she was the one who had to travel all this way!?
But she had to be patient if there was any hope of peace in the kingdoms. With a sigh, she got up to pace around the room, going over all her bargaining chips. It boiled down to two, and either one wasn’t ideal…
Finally, she went over to the door to ask the guards. “It is a bit rude to be kept waiting this long…”
Eve slowly nodded. “I will. I will…try to not just endure her, ah…episodes.”
“Very well then,” the Queen said, standing up and looking out the window. “With discussions… postponed for now, I should give you a more thorough tour of my home. How does that sound to you?”
“That would be lovely, thank you.” Eve smiled a little. “I’ve been curious about your home. I’ve been mostly confined to my quarters.”
As if on cue, Discordia offered her arm for Eve to take.
“We shall have to change that,” she said, fixing her veil over her hair. “All the amenities of my home are yours to have. The only place off limits is my quarters- and even then, you only need to knock to enter.”
Eve took it without question. “Thank you, your grace. That’s incredibly kind of you. I shall remember that.”
“There is no need to thank me. You are my guest and ward. It would be a cruelty not to allow it,” she said. Discordia pushed open the door, letting in a rush of warm air. “Now. Where to first? The gardens are always a welcome start, but there is the entire expense of the building for us to tour.”
“The...gardens.” She said. “I think I would like some fresh air if you don’t mind.”

“…What if I don’t like any of them?”
“Do not be foolish. There are three of them. One has to fit your fancy.” Eidyia rolled her eyes as she looked out of the window of the carriage.
Eve sighed and kept her eyes on her lap, trying not to panic too much. This whole trip had been stressful knowing she wasn’t likely to go back home anytime soon. An arranged, political marriage…and so soon.
The carriage stopped and the door opened. Eidyia strode out first to survey their welcome. Eve stayed put, trying to hide her trembling hands.

Delia considered that for a long moment. “… we didn’t, like, fuck, right?”
Eve went very, very red. “N-NO! Of course not!” She protested, rather loudly.
“No need to yell about it, damn,” Delia said, lowering herself onto the vanity’s stool with a sigh of relief. “I didn’t think we did but I can’t really remember last night so I had to be sure.”
She finally calms down with a huff. “S-Sorry...Nothing happened. I would have felt bad if I left you alone.”

“Taking a look around.” She said, unsure if she should admit who she had been talking to. “It is very interesting here.”
Puck hummed thoughtfully, taking in their surroundings with heartache clear in his eyes. “The last time I was here, I could feel every blade of grass, every ripple in the water, every breath of wind before it arrived.”
“And now you cannot?” Eidyia asked, raising an eyebrow.

The Crone nodded, and then vanished from sight.
A few minutes later, Puck arrived, walking slowly across the fen. He’d let his glamour go, and kept glancing at the walking path anxiously as he came towards Eidyia.
“It’s all so different,” he said when he finally came to stand by her side.
Eidyia gave him a small smile. “You have been away for a while, after all. How are you feeling?”

Delia reacted instinctively, fleeing the bed and stumbling over to her vanity, where she grabbed at a long hair pin and brandished it before her like a weapon. It took a moment longer for her to process what was going on, and she slowly lowered the hair pin with a confused, “Eve?”
Eve froze, frightened of what Delia might do in such a state. But when she lowered the pin, Eve relaxed too.
“S-Sorry…I stayed here the whole night to watch over you.”
Delia considered that for a long moment. “… we didn’t, like, fuck, right?”
Eve went very, very red. “N-NO! Of course not!” She protested, rather loudly.
“I do not remember what they look like but I am very accustomed to the sound of their presence. It is comforting to recognise it wherever I go.”
“They whisper to you, do they? Have you figured out what they are telling you?” Branwen asked, curious.
She considered this for a moment, trying to focus on the sound of the stars. “I cannot quite make it out. Perhaps I am not yet ready to hear them properly?”
“It could take time.” Branwen said. “Sit a while and listen.”

The woman smiled softly. “She definitely seemed incredible. And you seem very proud of her.” She leaned back against the side of the boat with a small yawn. “You’re very kind to allow me such probing questions. I should leave you be.”
/“I believe it is only fair, seeing how you will be living in my domain. You should not be afraid to ask questions. You do want to know me better, do you not?”/
“I do but now hardly seems appropriate as you are busy getting us to safety as well as looking after Pax.”
“It is fine, I promise.” Eidyia smiled softly. “You will know all in time.”

For several hours, Delia slept peacefully. Her maid came in briefly to leave some fresh water by the bedside, but wasn’t bothered by Eve’s presence and quietly showed herself out again. Eventually, Delia stirred. Her fingers tightened in her blanket, and a quiet whimper escaped her mere seconds before she jolted awake, gasping for air.
Eve dozed quietly on the bed, a little tired herself. These past few days had taken a lot out of her.
She was stirred awake by Delia, jumping in shock at the gasp. “D-Delia! Shh…shh, you’re alright.”

Lorelei took a seat at the fire’s edge, letting the warmth spread over her. “It is very nice out here. Especially now that we have some warmth.” She chuckled.
“You should come back in the summer where you barely need a fire at all. You can lay out and sleep under the stars.” Branwen smiled softly.
“Amazing, I feel like I can hear them above us.” She murmured, pulling out one of the fur blankets from the tent and settling it by the fire so she could recline on it. “It is so different from home but it feels like an extension of everything I know.”
"It's all part of this wonderful world." Branwen said. "Some things remain constant. The stars, for example."

Lorelei ducked to kiss her grandmother’s cheek and disappeared again. The one eyed woman stared in shock, hair shifting in the breeze. “That was your granddaughter?” She asked finally, turning her gaze to Eidyia. “She has a flair to her entrances.”
/“She is very young still.”/ Eidyia chuckled. /“And is still getting used to her powers.”/
Eidyia placed a hand in the water, lending speed to all the boats.
“She, ah…She didn’t seem…” She took a breath, twiddling her thumbs. “…to use her eyes…”
Eidyia nodded. /"Yes, she is blind. But she can see by other means. She is an incredible young woman."/
