Yesterday I experienced something I wish for no one to ever exeprience ever. Yesterday there was a shooting at my school, Marjory Stonemen Douglas. 17 of my classmates lives were taken by this tragic event. Here is my story from my point of view: It was 20 minutes before the bell was about to ring and the fire alarm goes off. We already had a fire drill today so everyone thought it was a real fire and started leaving the classroom. And then before I was about to leave all my friend run back in screaming and I hear three gun shots. My teacher makes all 60 of us hide in a small closet and locks the door. We were in there for an hour and a half with no service, and no knowing what’s going on. Then we hear a knock on the door and it’s the SWAT team telling us to come out and that we were safe. We didn’t know if it was the SWAT team we didn’t know what to believe we all thought we were going to die. And then they opened the door somehow and told us all to run to the front of the school. When we got there they asked us questions and stuff. I found my dad and we brought some of my friends home.
This should not be something anyone of any age should have to experience. We need action now. We need to do something. This should not have happened.
Bad Ideas and Hiatus
So i decided to take a self test for mental illness. bad idea, since you should only get professional testing done, but i won’t see my doctor for a while. i got the graphs up and...
yikes. let’s just say i plan to get actual mental testing soon.
as a side note, i will be on hiatus for a while. i’m getting blocked from tumblr, so i won’t be able to come on.
i do plan on having a couple stories ready to publish when i come back. i might just do one a month, but then again, i don’t really live up to my promises anyways.
oh well.

Accessibility in the Hp Rp Community
I honestly didn’t plan on writing a rant today but…
Okay let me start by saying, I’m not calling anyone out, this isn’t “Kam Throws Shade”.
That’s still on Wednesdays.
I’m kidding, jeez, it was a joke.
Okay with that said, let’s get into it. As you may or may not have seen, I know sign language. Not fluently, barely even conversationally, but I’m learning. And I’m doing this for many reasons, the simplest and shallowest include:
· I like learning different languages.
· A lot of my relatives know asl.
· It’s good to know a way to talk to my sister without talking to everyone in the room.
There are more, but those are the main ones. But the real reason, the deepest, truest reason is because I’m likely to meet a deaf person. Either in my daily life or in my work or a multitude of other places. And I’d like to be able to communicate with them. The world isn’t made for deaf people. Often they have no way of understanding the people around them, I’m not saying they have bad lives, honestly they’re probably living fuller lives then me. However if I can help in a small way of being able to take their order or help them find something, why shouldn’t I?
Often I find small things that annoy me because of this. I learned (or more accurately am learning) asl to try and create a more accessible world. I am constantly seeing things that simply aren’t accessible. And that’s incredibly frustrating. So imagine how completely impressed I was with the hp rp community. Everything is accessible. Gifs either have text or words are written beneath them. You don’t need the ability to hear to be part of the community either on the receiving or the creating side.
However here comes the issue. Quite a lot of rpers are branching into the world of YouTube. Which is great. More content, bloopers, Q&A, these are all awesome. But often the videos aren’t captioned. Some don’t even have auto captions on. (This being said auto captions suck so much it’s almost better without them, almost.) Anyway, I understand why this may be. Captioning videos takes a lot of time, and it can be difficult if there are lots of people talking. I’m not asking all rpers to caption their videos. I’m asking all rpers to let me (or others) to caption their videos. Here’s a link that explains how to turn on viewer captions, a setting that allows viewers to add captions and translations in different languages making your videos much more accessible.
Tl;Dr: Let’s keep the hp rp community accessible. Turn on viewer captions for your rp YouTube videos. Let me caption your videos.
So
My Lola (grandma) just had a talk with me about if I’m still dating my boyfriend. I said of course I am, I’m wonderful and happy. She gave me a face like this:
and told me she had some wishes for my romance life. Her list is as follows:
1. no gays
2. no criminal records
3. no married people
4. no blacks, especially Jamaicans.
5. they have to be christian.
My boyfriend is Jamaican, not Christian, and not gay, though I am. She then followed up with “I’m not racist, but I just have experience, those blacks will get you in trouble,” etc. THEN she followed up with a “don’t have sex or you’ll get pregnant and your life will be over.” cue the inner asexual laughter.
Just... why? Why? Idk, just her views upset me, seeing as she’s never even MET my boyfriend. I’m just.... ugh.
