Bought the greatest thing ever at the flea market yesterday:

A normal looking toy truck, perhaps?

Wrong. Transformer Commander Cody

Also the description on the back of the box is killing me, I must’ve missed this episode of the Clone Wars…

I don't really understand some people's strong insistence that Buck needs to openly date/play the field now that he's bisexual. Or that it is unlikely/impossible that he could happily settle down with Tommy because he's his first male partner. One, it feels like it's propagating negative stereotypes. And two, it feels like a crucial misunderstanding of Buck's character.

Now, if it was Buck 1.0 who discovered this new facet of his sexuality, sure, he'd probably be hooking up with men and women in equal measure. And hats off to him. The guy's a T-bone steak. But since Abby, he's been in search of a serious, committed relationship. He wants to share a deep and profound connection with someone. More so, he wants to love and be loved in return. So, to me, it isn't surprising at all that even with men added into the equation, he has still zeroed in his attention on a single person (Tommy).

That segues into the other popular talking point that Tommy's only purpose is to serve as a plot device to open Buck's eyes to his bisexuality. If that were the case, then his role in the story would have been accomplished in 7x05. They could have kissed, and gone on their date, have it be crashed by Eddie, Buck putting his foot in his mouth with the 'hot chicks' comment, Tommy stepping back by telling Buck that he isn't ready, and then he could have peaced out of the narrative. ✌️Role fulfilled. Buck could still come out to Maddie and Eddie, accept his new sense of self, and decide that he indeed doesn't desire anything serious at the moment and wants the freedom to explore. His failed date with Tommy could have served as a learning experience and he then could wait for a new guy to catch his interest.

But he doesn't do that. He doubles down on Tommy. He calls him to apologize. He invites him to coffee. He tells him that while this is all new to him, Tommy is the one he wants to explore this with. He invites him to his sister's wedding. He's all in on Tommy. Because he has strong feelings for Tommy. Inviting Tommy to the wedding wasn't just about Buck coming out to his loved ones, it was about introducing them to Tommy as his partner.

Buck is committed to his relationship with Tommy. A relationship that (most likely) is going to continue to grow in the next two episodes and then into the next season. 🤞

Not me explaining that here on Tumblr tits is a gender neutral term for big chests unless the person has said they don't like it

On a serious note people being unironically horny about cis men and referring to their chests as tits in their horny rantings has made me feel more comfortable as someone who is transmasc

Like I don't have huge dysphoria about my chest because I'm not very well endowed but I still have some and like thinking: "I'm a sexy dude with sexy tits" is actually a good feeling for me personally

my blog is a safe place for the gender neutral usage of tits

I’m noticing an increase in new fic writers on AO3 who…uh…mayy not know how to format their fics correctly..so here is a quick and VERY important tip

Using a random fic of mine as example..

The left example: ✅✅✅

The right example: ❌❌❌

Idk how many times I’ve read a good fic summary and been so excited to read before clicking on it and being met with an ugly wall of text. When I see a huge text brick with zero full line breaks my eyes blur and I just siiiigh bc either I click out immediately or I grin and bear it…it’s insufferable!

If a new character speaks, you need a line break. If you notice a paragraph is becoming too large, go ahead and make a line break and/or maybe reconfigure the paragraph to flow better. I’m not a pro writer or even a huge fic writer but…please…ty…

This is a good thing to keep in mind! It is often and unfortunate that a really good fic doesn’t get love because its formatting makes it too difficult to read!

important to note tho that if you’re using google docs for example and you manually add a space after each paragraph it’ll make the gap between paragraphs even wider on ao3 (which i personally dont like). so my google doc will look like the one on the right, then come out looking like the one on the left on ao3, by using the RICH TEXT NOT HTML. if you paste your formated fic into the html box it will destroy your formatting (italics, bold, etc) and count new paragraphs as <br> rather than <p> which is why you get a wall of text!!!

if you want your gdocs to look like the one on the left without using the extra paragraph space, ctrl a to select your whole doc, then under line spacing hit “add a space after paragraphs”. write your fic as normal, add your formatting and italics for that “Oh. Oh.” goodness, then crtl a, ctrl c, then ctrl v into the rich text box on ao3

Quick FYI to the above point: Specifically copy pasting from Google Docs into the Rich Text formatter isn’t super reliable for preserving bold and italics. Sometimes even if it LOOKS fine while in the Rich Text Format box, when you post or preview it, it won’t be on there. There’s other workarounds for this but I’m gonna save a life and just link the Google Docs AO3 provides with a Script Built in to translate everything to HTML for you.

YEAH AO3 just made a thing that’ll fix pretty much very weird Google Docs pasting formatting thing for you. I didn’t even know this until I saw an old post where someone mentioned it because it’s only linked deep in their FAQ page.

It works GREAT, I’ve used it for years. I tend to add an extra link break between paragraphs myself, this also corrects that. Pretty much the only thing it will not correct for you is horizontal line dividers, still gotta do that manually, but yeah! It’s real good. Please use this.

And also just best practice, even though this is reliable: be sure to preview your fic before you post it so you make sure it looks how you want it. It’s just a good habit to get into.

neat tool! i havent heard of that before

and yeah, while i personally haven’t had issues with gdocs->rich text on ao3, im seconding thirding and fourthing previewing before you post. and if the color of the text box is a little weird, saving it as a draft first usually fixes that (for oneshots at least)

Chris doesn’t want Buck and Eddie to date each other Fics

"Wait," Christopher says slowly. "You and Buck... are together?" Eddie smiles as he gently squeezes his son's knee. He knows without looking that Evan is wearing that big grin of his — the one that covers half his face and raises the apples of his strong cheekbones nearly to his eye-line. It shouldn't be anatomically possible, but if there's one thing Evan Buckley excels at, it's telling the "impossible" to take a hike. "That's right," Evan says, eyes sparkling. "Isn't that great?" Except... Christopher recoils and says the one thing Eddie doesn't expect: "No!" OR: Christopher can't lose anyone else. Good thing Buck isn't going anywhere.
Eddie and Buck come to Chris with some news, and he doesn't take it very well at all.
in which Buck and Eddie break up because they love their kid.
Buck and Eddie tell Christopher they're dating. It doesn't go well.
Chris tells Buck he doesn’t want him and Eddie to date each other. Feelings are hurt, miscommunications happen, and there’s lots of sad Buck.
