Regarding the potential outcome of today's elections, it is worth noting that no one became successful by complaining about who is in office. Great people adapt and carry on.

It is observed that our political discourse has devolved into two straw boys (men doesn't seem like the appropriate word) platforming on rudimentary bales of hay. One holds matches tipped with red phosphorus, while the other holds chemically identical incendiary devices that have been artificially colored blue. Both seem all too eager to light their opponent ablaze, paying little mind to the fact that the resulting flames would quickly engulf the field they stand in, which is pleasantly ironic when you remember the mental capacity - or lack thereof - of the most famous straw character in American children's literature. Perhaps L. Frank Baum was providing some subtle advise about judging those who make frequent use of this fallacy, something like "never assume intelligent malintent when an act can more easily be explained by stupidity" seems to be a reasonable interpretation. Can we dub this, "The Wizard's Razor"? The only questionable word in the above is "devolve", as it invokes the likely false notion that there was some ancient age in which leaders were chosen based on their ability to deeply reason through complicated issues, engage in thoughtful and civil negotiations, and arrive at pragmatic compromises that benefited their constituents as equitably as one could hope for.

Two Lessons Learned This Week

The reason why we must never cut our winners short is because the market moves in streaks.  Big wins coincide with BIG loses, so the big wins must be ridden to completion in order to protect against the big losses.

Don't avoid trades based on grey data.  Unless there is a statistically significant reason to not trade, trade.
