“ nothing. he is still like other men, no matter what. ” wira answers, solemnly – a direct jab to whom ? a deadbeat father, past fling or a common friend, maybe even towards himself. he could be all those men. “ average & always the bare minimum of disappointing to nobody’s own surprise.

Hanzo is poised. A careful position held in his body. He is careful to mind his words. The meetings, the wires crossed. He knows that both Talon and Hydra have wires that are crossed and they want vastly different goals. It’s a matter of truth, a matter of circumstances and how the cards are played. None the less the sake slides down his throat with a pleasant swallow. He’s careful, even now, even when some of the shades of their colors have been exposed. None the less the conversation he holds now is one that has kept his attention.                  Whose game are you really playing? it’s a thought that had been spoken and Hanzo had held his tongue for now. None the less he shifts as he lets the sake cup rest on the table. “Tell me, how long have you been playing yours?” He says back to the redhaired woman sitting across from him. Hanzo is not stupid though he wonders if they knew he;d show up. That the head of the family would bless them with his presence instead of sending one of his men.

how long have you been playing this game ? long enough for time to no longer matter? for the blood of war to seep into the snow, and be covered with fresh flakes? for poppies to bloom from soldiers bones? long enough to feel weary to her bones. But no emotion passes on her face, cold indifference is all she allows him to see as she mimics him, taking a mouthful of sake.

longer than you have been alive  — most likely at least ”     It’s a truth though one coated in enough sarcasm to hide the bite that comes with such words. She watches the room more than she watches him, curious about the life of Japan, a country she had not had much time to explore     “ Why ? feeling a little mortal these days ? ”
