Trip to Dubai

Here’s a little taste of our trip to Dubai last year. We got to visit Dubai Fountain, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Creek, Desert Safari, Dubai Miracle Garden, Global Village, and more!

Make sure to hit the thumbs up, leave a comment, and subscribe.

Desert Safari

A desert safari is definitely one of the best ways to experience Emirati culture.

The adrenaline rush that dune bashing gives you is amazing, but it’s the post-drive time camp that’s the real highlight.

Anyone with remaining energy from the heart-pounding dune bashing session can head to the camel rides and sand surfing.

The camp offers an all-you-can-eat buffet and barbecue, not to mention the famous Arabic dish — shawarma.

And there are opportunities to get henna tattoos, or watch the Tanoura dance and a belly-dancing show.

It’s almost May

Summer 2020 is cancelled, y’all. So here’s a li’l #throwback to last year when summer wasn’t cruel yet, and we could go outside. Stay safe and healthy, though.

A conversation that needs to happen

We need to talk about — depression. The more people talk, the more normal talking about it becomes. I admit, at first, talking about it was difficult and awkward. I had no basic knowledge about depression. Glad I have friends who made an effort to educate me, and that's what we all should do. Rather than shame people or go on a rant about everything, let's educate the society for them to understand what depression is.

VDay

I celebrated Valentine’s Day with my closest friends. After all, VDay is not just about relationships, it is about love. Love is such a beautiful thing that we should celebrate all kinds of it more often.

Whenever we are together, it is a tradition that we take pictures of one another. And here are some of my outtakes from the “shoot:”

Too Nice

“You’re too nice.”

These three words that my friend said last night got me thinking.

I told myself I better read between the lines.

I’d like to believe that kindness is always in style, yet at the same time

accept that being too nice can hurt me.

Once in a while.

In different ways.

I don’t know how to say “no.”

I always try to make other people happy.

I talk to almost everyone.

I am afraid to voice my opinion just to avoid a conflict.

Yes, I’m falling into the “too nice” trap,

and I should start saving myself from falling deeper.

“Nice” is good, but “too nice” is not.

Just let the shit roll

People should stop worrying about things they have no control over. Good and bad things will happen in life, and there is no better thing to do than to let that shit roll. Keep living, and accept that uncertainty is the only certainty there is, that anything could change in a heartbeat. Life is unpredictable, and I think that’s what makes it beautiful.

What’s up

Catching up

I just started watching Stranger Things last week, and so far, so good. The story is brilliant. The kids are adorable. Winona Ryder is such an icon. And Millie Bobby Brown is mesmerizing as Eleven, who, by the way, is QUEEN. I would pay taxes to her.

  Playing

PPAP R&B version is constantly playing in my head. The tune is actually catchy that I can’t get it out of my head.

  Wanting

To go to the beach and feel the heat, smell the sea, and admire the sound of the waves, and

To start a vlog and make videos like YouTube stars

  Learning

I’ve been learning basic Japanese (an elective part of our school’s Accountancy program) for two months, yet I often feel awkward when I talk in front of the class. It’s not that I am terrible at speaking; I just hate being the center of attention or being put on the spotlight. It is terrifying.

  Craving

For pizza from Pizza by Hygge Café Co. (a must try in Baguio), bibimbap, and ramen all of a sudden

  Contemplating

How blessed I am to have a ton of great people in my life

and how upsetting the concept of Pinoy Boyband Superstar is

“On Wednesdays, we wear pink!”

Pink as a ladies-only color? Not anymore. Probably, people nowadays are more open to the notion that colors should not be used to define someone’s sexual orientation. If you wear pink, then you’re just wearing pink.

Museum Visit Outfit

I am neither a fashion expert nor a fashion blogger, but I really like to dress up (not for anyone except me). I just love the idea of telling stories of my mood through what I wear. That said, I want to share details regarding my “outfit of the day” when I, together with my friends, visited a museum.

With the gloomy weather we’ve been experiencing right now, it is but proper to add some fun and bright colors on what we wear, yet I think otherwise. Bad weather can be depressing that I’d rather stick to dark colors. The layering goes from a basic tee to an oversized parka. I know, the shirt does not contrast with the layer above it, but I like it that way. Style is all about trying to discover your personality.

Further, there’s no better coat for a wet and cool climate than a parka, and believe it or not, I bought mine from a thrift shop. I just have this thought that every man should own such thing. It does not have to be a heavy duty one as long as it will keep you warm during extreme conditions.

Then for a simple, clean, and casual overall effect, combined with the two are a pair of trousers, which I wore during my junior prom, and a pair of kicks. White sneakers might be a no-go during wet season to prevent them from being smirched, but the neatness blends with the dark mood of the whole outfit.

Disregarding the parka and the kicks (and the cap which may be unnecessary), it is actually a clever way to combine a t-shirt and a tailored suit trousers, and then complement with a leather portfolio and a pair of loafers. It’s casual and sharp at once, and suited for cities with sunny weather and drier climates. Just a reminder, if you’re wearing a t-shirt with trousers, tuck it in. It’s all about the proportions.

It can be tough to dress for a rainy day, but there are definitely ways to stay dry without sacrificing style.

BenCab Museum

July 10, 2016 — It was a rainy Sunday afternoon when I and my friends went to the home of the collection of Philippine National Artist Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, more popularly known as BenCab — the BenCab Museum. It is located along Km. 6 Asin Road, a half-hour travel time from Baguio city market via jeepney.

The well-known museum has three levels and houses eight galleries: BenCab Gallery, Cordillera Gallery, Philippine Contemporary Gallery 1 & 2, Maestro Gallery, Erotica Gallery, Print Gallery, Gallery Indigo, and Sepia Gallery. Nothing fell short of my expectations.

In Erotica Gallery you will find paintings, drawings, and sculptures highlighting an erotic theme.

The Cordillera Gallery contains the artist’s collection of indigenous tools and crafts of the mountain people. *featuring millenials at work*

PHILIPPINE LIFE: Hand-coloured engravings from The Illustrated London News of 1857 is currently on exhibit in Print Gallery, which usually displays vintage prints and photographs.

Another spot that really impressed me is the Bulol installation. The bulol, or Ifugao rice god, is a carved wooden figure made primarily as a guardian of a rice granary, and your BenCab Museum experience would not be complete without taking a picture with them.

After a tour of the galleries, you can spend some time at the Café Sabel located at the lowermost part of the building overlooking the forest and duck pond. We have only tasted iced caramel drink and camote fries, and they did not fail to satisfy. Pastas and some Pinoy meriendas, like turon and suman, are also served at the café.

The BenCab Museum is open from Tuesdays to Sundays 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with an admission fee of Php120.00 for the general public.
