I pretty much already yapped about this but

I forever dislike how the show completely glossed over how hurtful Apple's betrayal was not only did she release and help ravens ab-sive mother but had also helped in attempting to turn raven into something SHE had WITNISSED, she had witnissed how raven was when she was evil and she KNEW that was ravens greatest fear, yet she had helped THE eq and gaslighted raven.

This is why there shouldn’t have been a immediate forgiveness, i really could not give a damn if this goes against what raven stands for cause really it doesn’t. Raven was betrayed in one of the worst ways by someone she had grown to trust. Apple had screwed everything over and needed to WORK for that forgiveness.

Literally every time i witness that betrayal and then the immediate forgiveness it just pisses me off it’s as if ravens feelings don’t matter it’s as if by not forgiving apple she’s viewed the same as her mother even when she has a RIGHT! She was BETRAYED! She had reputation and life screwed over and set back to zero BECAUSE of apples betrayal. And it’s even more hurtful when raven has CONFIDED in apple.

Yes Apple does feel guilty and maybe to others this can be easily redeemed but it’s obvious to raven it was a BIG betrayal! And i’m not making this shit up when raven found out she didn’t even give a damn atp she said what she said and made it clear she wasn’t fucking around with apple anymore and then she immediately just switches up like that? It just seems like such a mary sue tactic for apple.

Can’t even count when she got poisoned as a sort of punishment considering it was what she wanted! Add to the fact that ONCE again it’s RAVEN needing to feel guilty and Mattel pushing the agenda that both were wrong and guilty! Like ok the fuck?? Exactly why i didn’t shed a damn tear at her poisoning or Raven’s speech

Raven needed space and Apple needed to get her shit together, Point Final let Apple get a proper development without her needing rescuing and having those who she has wronged feel guilty or be shown as equally guilty.

If I'm being honest I think Maddie's and Raven's friendship in ever after high is underrated in the series, books and even within the fandom itself. Like Maddie is Raven's best friend and the first person to not have judged her for who she's daughter off, despite Maddie having had every right to be weary of her due to what Raven's mom did to her home of origin; wonderland.

Like the evil queen invaded her home and made it hard to even go back to wonderland or even be able to cross back and forth from ever after and wonderland, by making a magical border that poisoned her home and made it difficult to even be able to live in it, and yeah, she's lucky that she was one of the few people who got evacuated from wonderland, but she misses her home.

And yet the first time she met Raven, despite having all the right to despise her for what her mom did to her and other people, and be weary of her, she instead doesn't judge her for that and chooses her as her best friend, and realizes that Raven is nothing like her mom and just accepts her best friend as who she is, and even cheers her up when she's down due to everyone else judging her, for who's she's the daughter of...

Yet that kinda gets forgotten by almost everyone, which is kinda really sad because in one of the books ; A wonderlandiful world ; Maddie, talks to the narrators ; who narrate what happens in her world to keep her and other fairytale stories alive, while not controlling their free will ; how she's aware she's just supposed to be a comedy relief side character that can't be anything but funny and how she's supposed to be brushed over in the narrative for the sake of other characters. And that literally does happen in the series, in the fandom, and later on in the books as she's sort of just written or seen there without being given proper character development or attention at all, that's not off character completely for comedy relief for other characters to exist but, not her.

And that's tragic. We don't talk about Maddie enough nor about the characters friendships with each other enough, at all.

"Mal's biggest fan"

How and when? He wasn't even a fan of 95-percent of her decisions in all three movies?

I did training on how to deal with classified information back in 2007 and this joke was in the official federal government training course.

These are all the secrets that gays trust me with.

Probably unpopular opinion: Pooh’s Heffalump Movie demonstrated overcoming prejudices and fear of the “other” much better than Descendants ever managed to.

In a similar vein, I think it also did well pointing out the fact that prejudices are taught and internalized, not born into us.

Now this might simply be because Roo is the only “child” character in the Hundred-Acre-Wood, but if you listen during the “Horribly Hazardous Heffalump” song (which is such an earworm, what the heck), Roo is delighted to learn about the Heffalumps - it’s only the adults like Rabbit, Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore who are horrified at having to explain this, and their dislike of the Heffalumps seems to boil down to “they’re different from us.”

When Roo later meets Lumpy, he reiterates some of things that he was told about Heffalumps (Roo: ”But, where’s your horns? And your spiky tail?” Lumpy: “Wow, a spiky tail? Wish I had one!”) and when he learns those things clearly aren’t true, Roo never brings them up again.

I know that obviously this is a kids movie and so obviously our protagonists will be children to connect with the target audience, but clearly the reason that Roo and Lumpy can connect so well is because Roo quickly lets go of what he has been taught about Heffalumps and learns easily.

pirates of the caribbean really introduced an eldritch octopus man who kills indiscriminately and torments the dead as their poster villain and then you watch the movies and it's like, "oh no, actually the worst villain in this series is a small white british man who functions as the herald of capitalism" and that was very very brave of them

disney concept art: the most beautiful dynamic original thing i have ever seen

disney finished project: rubber same face minimalism regurgitated plots

concept art:

final version:

What makes me so mad is that snow queen is such a lovely tale and there was an evil mirror that shattered and froze the queen’s heart. So the first thing the newly evil queen does is PLUNGE THE KINGDOM INTO ETERNAL WINTER.

And the kid Anna is based off of is actually this sweet peasant girl who is rescuing her best friend whom everyone else thought drowned and whom no one cared for because mirror shards got in his eyes and he only saw beauty in snowflakes while everything else was just disgustingly foul to him. Except he didn’t drown because he was whisked away by the snow queen.

Like this girl gives her shoes to the river to find out he didn’t drown. Her hair ribbons to the birds to find out who took him. Works her hands raw to get to him and has to suffer a mental breakdown because she got SO FUCKING CLOSE to saving him and he won’t even look at her because he wants to solve this puzzle the snow queen gave him.

And then her sobbing wakes him up and he cries and washes the shards from his eyes and the fact that she saved him is enough to melt the snow queens heart and she brings spring back to the kingdom.

Wow Frozen really is some weak shit

Let’s not forget Gerda’s journey takes her along a long road that includes meetings with multiple women, many of them old, most of whom are not evil witches but wise women who aid her in her quest. She’s also at one point held captive by a bandit princess who swaps clothes with her and insists on sleeping in the same bed and routinely threatens her with a knife, but she eventually lets Gerda go with a magic talking reindeer she was also holding captive. The bandit princess cries because goddamn Gerda you’re so NICE and PRETTY and BRAVE and you clearly care about this stupid guy I GUESS and I can’t bear it just GO ok just GO and also you better fucking take care of her reindeer or I will CUT YOU.

The story is full of interesting complex women of many ages and magical talking animals and it’s a real shame we didn’t get an adaptation closer to the original ‘cause it’s really cool.

hey good news about the adaption:

There was a Soviet animated movie from 1957, that doesn’t brush over any of the things you just listed.

You get Gerda on her journey, meeting all of those people that both hinder her quest and help her, with older women from different regions of northern europe, as well as several princesses who aid her

also the art style and animation is absolutely gorgeous and I always feel like it’s a shame that older Soviet animation is barely recognized around the world

you can see the entire thing with english subtitles here
