HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT SHE MEANS but once upon a time, he hadn’t learned that lesson yet. running around with folks like the titans didn’t do wonders for his self esteem as a kid --they were larger than life and he was just a guy with a bow. and maybe at times he tried to overcompensate but somewhere along the way, he actually became comfortable in his own skin. having those thoughts validated by someone as “put together” as babs makes him wonder what paths she took...the ways she struggled before learning it.
and maybe, he wants to learn it from her directly.

HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT SHE MEANS. it’s the impulse to protect someone you love even from the little things cause their sadness stings so much. and roy knows he’s got no shortage of “bad things” in his past --things he wished someone did protect him from when they happened. but at the end of the day...he’s grown from the experience, risen from the darkest pits of the abyss and came back a phoenix.
