Working with the A Gente Transforma (We Transform) Project I travelled to document life in Várzea Queimada, a drought-plagued community in the backwoods of the Brazillian northeast. Since my first visit there, I met several women as here. Sitting, weaving straw into the church, which was the only collective space of the village in which they could work together under the shade of a scorching heat. A church without a priest, populated by strummed prayers in the plot of the baskets. February, 2012. Hi, this is Tatiana Cardeal here @tati_cardeal for @icp. This week I'll be sharing images of my documentaries projects on traditional communities in Brazil, focusing on the subtle balance between the environment and the lives of women from communities that resist or adapt to the rapid development of the country in recent years. I hope to inspire you guys as the strength of these women and the nature in which they live inspired me.
