        “Wow,” she deadpans – not that she’s totally complaining. still, though – “I’m touched.”

      ‘ I took my clothes off for you and that is all you have to say? Selina. You make me feel cheap and dirty and used. I am hurt. ’

well, right on cue, she’s wearing a very obvious pout, fingers still tightly wound around his hand. she’s not done reading your palm, volkov – you’d better wait for her to really pack the punches.  “Haven’t you heard ?  Breaking rules is a hobby of mine !  Besides —– I’m not done yet. ‘Cause this line, right here –”  and now, she traces another one – “says you might be a little whipped. Just a little. Not that I can blame you, I mean, have you met me ? ”  all right, all right. now’s a good a time as ever for his ‘ground rules.’ You could color her curious.

She can probably see it the exact second she says the wrong thing, the way his expression shifts and the look in his eye changes. Vasiliy forgets all about the little game they’re playing and pulls his hand free, regardless of the grip she has on him, before putting some space between them. He’s not amused by her little comment. 

          ‘ You need some practice. ’

she did not need much, wanted very little. a kind word, sincerity, fresh air, clean water, a garden, kisses, books to read, sheltering arms, a cozy bed, and to love and be loved in return. // snb.

she’s about to comment and say that she really wouldn’t mind going to moscow with him, sometime, that she’s more than all right with him showing her his ways, but his palm’s outstretched, all of a sudden, and she’s absolutely delighted. because, you know, she might be a crock of a fortune teller, but she sure knows how to show a fella a good time.

so, selina kyle withdraws her arms and hands from his neck and shoulders, taking his hand into both of hers, wearing an expression of intense concentration, as if she’s about to glean something very important, from all this.  “Interesting. Very interesting.”  one of her fingers, slender and dainty, traces over one line.  “See this ?  This one says you’re gonna get slapped sometime in the future. But, you know, it also says you might like it.”  and, just like that, there’s a light little laugh (  a giggle, honestly  ). truly incredible, this one. 

         ‘ Oh, that’s what it says? I think you need glasses, kitten, because that’s never going to happen. Unless it ends up being some kind of birthday wish for you-- which would be weird and I’d only let you do it the once. ’ He gives her a look, as if he’s daring her to look disappointed by his words. ‘ I have to set some ground rules with you or else you’ll just take advantage of the fact it’s your birthday. And that won’t do. ’

     ❛      …  okay, well. there’s a spider on you. and i’m not just saying that.         ❜

           ‘ --Good for the spider? ’

         “You don’t really think I’m going to say yes — ?”

        ‘ It took me fucking hours to set up, so you better. ’

        “Y’know, I’ve never been to Moscow. Italy, sure, France, definitely, but not up there. Figure I might get cold a little too easy.”  a pause.  “I’ve never been a fan of the cold.”  not unless she’s in her suit, but gotham’s brand of cold isn’t exactly on russian levels. she might pass with a fancy faux-fur coat, however. that, she’ll indulge in.

        “And, yeah – if you’re lucky.”  she’s grinning, now, because, well – he’s got to know she’ll be taking him home if he’s spoiling her on her big day. that’s the way it works.  “Guess we oughta check and see if your stars are aligned, this week. You know, I’m kind of an amateur fortune teller.”  she’s not. at all. don’t take her word for anything.  “You give me your palm, I can do a little reading.”

       ‘ You should come with me sometime, when I go back. I can show you plenty of ways to stay warm, ’ he smirks. Somehow, he thinks he can see Selina in Russia, though. Or his parts of Moscow, at least. The parts that belong to Sergej Sokolov and his almost-sons. Then again, she might not really appreciate the kinds of people he hangs around. Tea Lindquist maybe, but everybody else? 

Brows perk at her hidden-until-now talent, and Vasiliy removes a hand from her waist to offer it out to her, looking amused all the while. He’s perfectly capable of spoiling Selina if he has to, so he has no doubts as to where he’s going to be the night of her birthday. Still, it’s fun to play along with her.
