It was a cold winter night and here you were in your car. You were trying to decide whether to go through with the trip to your boss’s basement or not. You knew the door was always open, but something kept you from going too often. It was the fact that you had feelings for him, and he had strict rules against it. Since you actually enjoyed your job, you didn’t want to risk losing it. You never expected to fall for the famous Leroy Jethro Gibbs, but you did.
You couldn’t sleep, you couldn’t stop thinking, and you were on the edge of tears. Your engine roared to life and you drove towards Gibbs’ house. It didn’t take you too long to get there and it wasn’t late. You knew Gibbs would be in his basement at this time of night. You took your keys out of the ignition, sitting there for a few more minutes. You knew if you didn’t go now, you would never get out of the car. You climbed out of the car, making your way to the door.
You opened the door, slowly entering the marine’s house. You checked the living room, dining room, and the kitchen, no Gibbs. That meant he had to be in the basement. You took a long breath in, letting it out slowly before you descended down the stairs.
“Need something, [Y/N],” Gibbs asked as he sanded the wood on his boat. He didn’t look up at you as he spoke, he just sanded his boat. He was in one of his USMC hoodies, and he looked great in it. He looked at you with concern when you didn’t say anything back. “Everything alright?”
You nodded. It was the only thing you could do. You were afraid that if you said anything, you would accidentally tell him everything. Gibbs also made you nervous, and that didn’t help either. Your mouth was dry, but you managed to speak, “I just couldn’t sleep. Everyone comes to your basement when something troubles them.”
“So what’s troubling you,” Gibbs questioned, putting down his sandpaper to grab a couple of jars, pouring a little bit of bourbon in each.
