MANY religions worldwide would consider this a solemn and respected post of work. Every form of paganism I have personally run across would say you’re doing an important duty. In Judaism, we’d say you’re fulfilling a Mitzvah by respecting the dead and honoring their memories.
If you go in with good intentions, any spirits still hanging around WILL NOT HURT YOU. Just show them respect.

Plus like, what ghost is gonna decide ‘yes today I will take horrible vengeance on the person who quietly and respectfully keeps the plants tended and the headstones clean’. Whoever they’re gonna fuck with, it’s not gonna be me.

Just a glimpse into the type of “friends” I apparently seem to attract….yes, let’s assume the first time mom doesn’t know what a blowout is, and let’s also assume my first instinct would be to cry to fucking Facebook over something that may or may not even happen.

For context this was a comment on a video I shared of a baby going ham on a huge tub of Chobani yogurt. This happened like a week or two ago but I’m still fucking mad over it.

My mom learned it because she figured she’ll go deaf when she gets old
My family went holiday SCUBA diving once, and a couple of Deaf guys were in the group. I was really little and I spent most of the briefing overcome with the realization that while the rest of us were going to have regulators in our mouths and be underwater fairly soon, they were going to be able to do all the same stuff and keep talking.
The only reason some form of sign language is not a standard skill is ableism, as far as I can tell.

Update: you guys this is an amazing resource for learning asl. Bill Vicars is an incredible teacher. His videos are of him teaching a student in a classroom, using the learned vocabulary to have conversations.
Not only is the conversation format immersive and helpful for learning the grammar, but the students make common mistakes which he corrects, mistakes I wouldn’t have otherwise know I was making.
He also emphasizes learning ASL in the way it’s actually used by the Deaf community and not the rigid structure that some ASL teachers impose in their classrooms
His lesson plans include learning about the Deaf community, which is an important aspect of learning ASL. Knowing how to communicate in ASL without the knowledge of the culture behind it leaves out a lot of nuances and explanations for the way ASL is.
Lastly, his lessons are just a lot of fun to watch. He is patient, entertaining, and funny. This good natured enthusiasm is contagious and learning feels like a privilege and not a chore

Friend makes a political post essentially saying the constitution is outdated and only caters to white males. Also goes on in the comments with two screenshots of 18th century cures for common ailments and how he wouldn’t trust medical remedies from back then, so why should we abide by the constitution now when it isn’t inclusive, etc.
One of the cures was just “Ferrets for whooping cough”.
And because I have four, now I’m curious since most treatments from back then are some form of blood letting or some weird ass fucking ritual so I just comment “I kind of want to know how the fuck a ferret would cure whooping cough”.
Come back to two replies to my comment (neither from my friend), one of which suggested “maybe they fucked them and got a disease” and the other was “maybe they put them up their ass”.
Like…? Who the fuck actually thinks of these things? And now I get to go to work pissed off about something stupid.
Love how when I was struggling to try and pay for groceries in May because my job forced me into an unpaid leave of absence, my dad and his wife couldn't help me buy food, but now they're offering to buy the baby's crib for us, gtfo here.

FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT IF SOMEONE HURTS YOU, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CUT THEM OUT OF YOUR LIFE WITHOUT EXPLANATION, YOU DO NOT OWE THEM SHIT.
I’m losing what little goddamn patience I have for people.
The last two weeks with work have been an absolute fucking nightmare all because they couldn’t accept limitations my doctor set for me without paperwork that would take them ten business days to have filled out and reviews by their legal team before sending it to my job. So they forced me onto unpaid leave and I’ve been out of work since last Tuesday and trying to get in touch with them via email or even just RETURNING MY PHONE CALLS has been a nightmare, and I STILL don’t have a return to work date even though they finally received the paperwork.
I’ve tried advertising my handmade items on my Facebook so I can at least buy food because now being pregnant I can’t just NOT eat and it seems like I’m hungry 24/7, but I also can’t keep using my credit cards or dipping into what I have put aside in my savings towards buying the house so I can pay bills, which is exactly what it’s coming to.
Etsy, for whatever fucking reason, is not letting me make new or edit existing shipping profiles and because of this I can’t post new items in my shop, so my reach is limited to people I know on Facebook. And honestly, I haven’t had a problem up until now when everyone is fucking telling me they want to buy stuff from me, but then THEY DON’T FUCKING PAY ME, AND THEN HAVE THE BALLS TO ASK HOW THEIR ORDER IS COMING ALONG OR TOTALLY GHOST ME AFTER TELLING ME YES, THEY DEFINITELY WANT SOMETHING.
OR, OR I have people asking me about shit they’ve bought from me years ago that I either A) don’t make anymore, or B) have very limited stock of and have to FIND it after I moved at the end of 2020.
I have been very transparent on my profile that I have not been well the last several weeks (short of announcing that I’m pregnant- we’re still waiting to do that until this complication that put me on light duty is resolved). I feel sick, my body hurts, I’ve had trouble staying awake when I need to because I’m having trouble staying asleep for more than thirty minutes at a time, and I don’t have the energy to do anything that requires me getting out of bed since I’ve been home.
And people keep pushing me. And I’m getting really tired of it.
SO, the day after I was unwillingly forced to take an unpaid leave of absence from my job, I called my doctor to let them know what was going on and that I was worried that they were setting me up for termination. Later that day they called me up and walked me through the process through their app to release the paperwork to be faxed to the HR department at my job. Emailed HR to make sure they got it, and never heard back from them. That was Wednesday. Wednesday night, my boyfriend went INTO the office to check if they received it, told them I’d emailed them, and apparently nobody checked the fax machine or any of the emails. And it’s now Friday and I STILL haven’t heard back from these assholes.
AND NOW I’M ON UNPAID LEAVE OVER A MEDICAL COMPLICATION I COULD NOT CONTROL AND THE COMPANY’S FUCKING IMPATIENCE TO WAIT FOR MY ADA AND FMLA FORMS TO BE COMPLETED BY MY DOCTOR AND THEIR REFUSAL TO COMPLY WITH THE TEMPORARY NOTE THEY GAVE ME OUTLINING MY LIMITATIONS, FUCK ME I GUESS.
I legitimately wish there was a way you could publicly out companies for doing illegal/shady shit without fear of retaliation or termination.
I know it’s been forever since I’ve been active here, but I feel like a Mama Lipsky appreciation post is appropriate today, as I was scrolling through Facebook almost asleep when I saw that Estelle Harris (Mama’s VA) had passed away two days ago.
I know this is such a small role she ever had (she was in what, like 3 episodes??), but this show is sentimental to me and this role is the one I tie her to so strongly.
Possible fanart at a later date, but work and my current life situation are kicking the shit out of me so no promises.
Anyway, RIP Mama 💚
