Read the Project 2025 manifesto RIGHT NOW

There is so much here you'll have to look at it for yourself, but the climate policy alone is nightmare fuel.

The republican coalition wants to essentially end funding for green energy, dramatically promote and expand fossil fuel industries, and eliminate funding and regulations in all sectors promoting climate change mitigation. Task forces and offices related to clean energy and lowering carbon emissions will be eliminated and replaced with offices for promoting fossil fuels.

They want to LOG NATIONAL FORESTS TO "THIN" THE TREES TO STOP WILDFIRES.

THEY WANT TO FORCE OREGON AND CALIFORNIA TO LOG THEIR NATIONAL FORESTS AND TREAT THEM AS FOR TIMBER PRODUCTION

There are specific provisions in Project 2025 to essentially destroy the Endangered Species Act, causing it to defer to the rights of "economic development" and "private property." The plan includes delisting gray wolves, cutting the budget so that a "triage" system is used to determine which species will get protection, removing funding for research, removing experts and specialists from the decision-making process, and preventing "experimental" populations of animals from being established.

This is so much worse than I expected it to be and there's much more past that: They want to deregulate pesticides and remove much of the EPA's ability to regulate pollutants as well.

Also included in the manifesto is that we should

withdraw from nuclear weapons nonproliferation agreements, build more nuclear weapons, and resume nuclear weapons testing

The manifesto comprehensively outlines the scorched-earth elimination of abortion access, down to ensuring doctors aren't even trained to perform abortions. There are plans in here to disrupt abortion access GLOBALLY, not just domestically.

Not only that, the Republicans plan on reframing family planning programs around "fertility awareness" and "holistic family planning."

I can't even describe it all. I'm trying to give screenshots of the most important things but there's so much.

The foreign policy is a nightmare. They plan to push fossil fuels onto the Global South and promote the development of fossil fuel industry in the "developing world."

It is aggressive and antagonistic towards other nations, strongly pro-military, proposing that we INCREASE (!!!!!) defense spending, improve public opinion of the military and military recruitment, and increase the power to fund new weapons technology.

Just read the Department of Defense section. It's about greatly increasing and strengthening the military-industrial complex, collaborating more closely with weapons manufacturers, removing regulatory barriers to arming our allies and to inventing new military weapons, and recruiting more people into the military. They include provisions to develop AI technology for surveillance. And of course, continuing to support Israel is in there.

Elsewhere it proposes interfering in foreign countries with creepy pro-USA propaganda campaigns, even establishing international educational programs where faculty have to pledge to promote USA interests.

There's a line in here about getting rid of PBS because SESAME STREET is LEFTIST for God's sake.

HOW are people claiming democrats have the same policies. I feel like i'm losing my mind.

Oh God I missed the "Department of State" chapter somehow

The Project 2025 Republican's view of international relationships is that the USA needs to have total dominance over the globe and should behave more aggressively toward foreign "enemies."

It states that Mexico is no longer "sovereign" and needs the USA to step in and create a sovereign government for Mexico

The USA should make Central and South America the new center of "global manufacturing and industry"

First, the United States must do everything possible, with both resources and messaging, to shift global manufacturing and industry from more distant points around the globe (especially from the increasingly hostile and human rights-abusing PRC) to Central and South American countries.

And we should adopt totally unconditional support towards Israel

ensuring Israel has both the military means and the political support and flexibility to take what it deems to be appropriate measures to defend itself against the Iranian regime and its regional proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

International organizations should be only a means to an end and should be severed from US policy if they don't "support our interests"

The Trump Administration’s “tough love” approach to international organizations served American interests. For example, the Trump Administration withdrew from, or terminated funding for, the United Nations Human Rights Council, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, and the WHO. The results were redeployment of taxpayer dollars to better uses—and other organizations “getting the message” that the United States will not allow itself and its money to be used to undermine its own interests.

Ultimately, one of the Republican's goals is to globally redefine human rights. The manifesto says that only "actual" human rights should be supported, not "Radical social policies," and that human rights organizations should be anti-abortion and support "traditional families."

International organizations should not be used to promote radical social policies as if they were human rights priorities. Doing so undermines actual human rights and weakens U.S. credibility abroad. The next Administration should use its voice, influence, votes, and funding in international organizations to promote authentic human rights (...) It is paramount to create a healthy culture of respect for life, the family, sovereignty, and authentic human rights in international organizations and agencies. (...) The U.S. government should not and cannot promote or fund abortion in international programs or multilateral organizations. Technically, the United States can prevent its international funding from going toward abortions, but the U.S. will have a greater impact by including like-minded nations and building on the coalition launched through the Geneva Consensus Declaration, with a view to shaping the work of international agencies by functioning as a united front.

The Republicans want to destroy abortion access GLOBALLY

To be clear. The current government does not allow them to do all this. It would require them to trash the existing democratic process and install a dictator.

Genuinely, what scares the shit out of me is that I don't think many voters even KNOW that these are the policies.

Like, a lot of people engage with politics only secondhand, learning about politicians' viewpoints through what social media posts allege or imply, and don't actually listen to the politicians themselves.

I keep telling myself, there's still time for both candidates to die.

Even if Trump died with a plan like that ready to go they would just put someone else in his place to enact it.

We can't let them.

It's a long time in the making. We've been breeding the fascism final boss ever since colonization. Now we're the bomb that the rest of planet earth is strapped to.

We've got each other. Its time to start making plans to keep each other safe and fight against this evil should it come to pass. For now we can still do what we can to stop it.

After some consideration i think the best thing y'all can do with this, is confront conservative relatives/acquaintances with it using issues you know they would care about.

Because not even conservatives support a lot of this stuff.

Your mom's facebook friend always reposting from wolf sanctuary pages, "So cool Linda, so scary that Project 2025 plans to delist wolves from the endangered species list nationwide..."

Your aunt always posting about "chemicals," "That's scary, and just think, it's going to get even worse if trump gets in office and guts the standards for testing new chemicals!"

Your coworker that loves backpacking, "Wow those photos of the national forest are gorgeous, so sad how the Republicans want to log the forests and treat them as farms for timber production, enjoy them while you can..."

Your acquaintance that wants to go "off the grid" and start a homestead in the woods, "Wow, might want to buy those solar panels while you still can, in case the Republicans get in office, they're getting rid of subsidies for clean energy, did you know?"

Read through it, pick out something you know would horrify your conservative relative or neighbor, and show the screenshots/links.

it feels a little gross to take very real people who met and fell in love and devalue that by reducing them to their characters. but on the other hand ‘dean winchester’s werewolf boyfriend and dean winchester’s vampire boyfriend met and fell in love irl’ is one of the funniest technically true statements i can think of right now.

to everyone in the tags who learned that dj qualls and ty olssen are getting married from this post: sorry
