• Everything about you was what he was missing, but he was also content with just being your friend — your comrade. He was kind of broken, and you didn’t deserve that. Even with all the admirers he had, he never got the hype.
• It took damn near the whole village reassuring him that he was Kakashi Hatake, the hottest ninja ever, before he found the courage to finally say nine simple words to you — “Would like to go out on a date sometime?”
• He didn’t want to plan too much, as he was already so nervous. Too much on the itinerary would cause his brain to overload, which meant he would likely say something stupid to you, and then you would run away and never talk to him again. He couldn’t have that.
• So, he decided on Ichiraku. Good food, good vibes, and a chance to show you he wasn’t as boring as everyone tried to make him seem. He can be fun! He’s worthy of this opportunity!
• Unfortunately, he spent so much time rehearsing his lines and making sure he smelt good in all the right places, that he didn’t realize that he should’ve left fifteen minutes ago.
• He liked you so much, to the point where he would legitimately think about you all day. How could he mess this up before it even started? Now, he wouldn’t even have time to pick you up some flowers. He had planned everything so well, but of course he ruined it.

• “And you got lost on the path of life.” You sigh, playfully rolling your eyes before taking his hand and leading him to take a seat in the restaurant.
• He chuckles, but he still feels extremely guilty. She probably thinks I’m not serious. He repeats to himself over and over again.
• It’s almost as if you can read his mind—he wouldn’t be surprised if that was another talent of yours. “It’s okay, Kashi.” You speak softly, “You know that I know you, don’t you? I just got here myself.” You laugh. That beautiful laugh of yours that made butterflies grow inside of his tummy every time.
• After this, he calms down a bit. For the rest of the night he works his magic on you, and he realizes the two of you have so much in common. Favorite foods, preferred training methods, love for dogs, and his favorite…an admiration of Icha Icha.
• He has decided the two of you will be married after this realization, no joke.
• The two of you stay at the small food spot until they have to verbally beg you to leave, and even then, you still have a few more laughs and subtle touches before deciding to let the old man close.
• “I really really enjoyed tonight, Kakashi Sensei.” You mock his subordinates in an innocent voice.
• He can’t help but feel every nerve in his body get weak at your little pet name for him. He was so dirty minded. He really needed to lay off the books. All he could do on the outside is chuckle nervously as his cheeks became a tinted pink.
• He begins to lose himself in his thoughts again when he feels your hand grab his own. He swore he was about to melt.
• This feeling; your hand in his as the two of you stroll around the leaf village — it felt so perfect. He wanted this, you, so badly. Maybe even for the rest of his life.
• When the two of you finally make it to your home, and trust that the two of you walked as slow as possible, you stand awkwardly — a clear sign that you didn’t want the night to end yet, but neither of you knew of a way to stay in the others presence.
• “Y/N.” Kakashi finally breaks the silence, looking everywhere but in your eyes. “Thank you. I haven’t felt so free and happy in…a really long time.”
• “Me neither.” You smile, your cheeks burning from the intensity of it all. Was this really happening? Kakashi Hatake, the man who made you weak in the knees every time he was near you, standing on your porch and holding your hand after your first date? Are you dreaming?
• You were doing a fine job pretending you weren’t out of your mind nervous, but you could barely breathe.
• You can’t help it, and neither can he. The both of you scoot closer together before he can feel your cool breath hitting his own. It’s like he no longer has control over his body when he pulls his mask down and allows lips connect to yours while his admiration for you explodes throughout his body.
• His arms wrap themselves around your waist, and your arms find themselves around his neck, the both of you pulling each other in as close as possible. Fireworks are setting off inside of both of you as your lips mold together, and you’re pulling him towards your door as his tounge slips into your mouth when he stops.
• “Are you okay?” You question immediately. Your insecurities begin to take over, leaving you to wonder if you were a bad kisser, or maybe he realized that he didn’t have this much fun with you.
• “I’m…I’m perfect.” He responds, pressing a gentle kiss on your lips once more. “It’s just…I really like you, Y/N. And I want to follow you inside and show you just how much, but that wouldn’t be special. And special is what you deserve because you’re beyond that description to me.”
• He begins to back away, an innocent smile on his face as he pulls his mask back up. “I will prove myself worthy of you, Y/N L/N.” He proclaims, winking at you. “I have to go on a short mission tomorrow, but when I get back, can I see you again?”
• “You can see me whenever you want, Kakashi Hatake.” You whisper as your eyes well up with baby tears. You had never been spoken to in such a poetic way. You could feel his genuine care for you. “Just promise me you mean what you say…you know about how much you like me? Because I like you too. I always have.”
• “I promise, beautiful. See you soon.” Are his final words before he disappears, and you sit and stare at where he just stood hoping and wishing he would reappear.
• When Kakashi gets home, he can’t sleep. He can’t even pick up an Icha Icha book to reread for the fiftieth time. All he can think about is how he can’t wait to see you again. Being with you feels so warm, like a blanket that just dried on the hottest day in the village. He too, played it cool infront of you like the skilled shinobi he is, but he couldn’t help but let out a little squeal when he replayed the night over in his head.
• Maybe…just maybe he deserved something good. Maybe this time, it would work out.
