I’m so disappointed in the way people acted when they went to see Be More Chill this weekend, the stuff my friends who went are telling me is breaking my heart for the actors and crew.

I’ve heard stories of people in the audience having anxiety attacks because the audience around them was so loud, friends have said people behind them were singing along to the show, people screamed every single time Michael came on stage and kept other people from hearing the show, and by far the WORST thing I’ve heard is from my friend who said when she met the actors, everyone around her ran up to the actor playing Michael, addressed him only as Michael, and talked to him as if he was the character, saying nothing about the actor or his performance and hard work. Imagine if you were an actor and you spent months working on a show, giving it everything you’ve got, making the character your own. And imagine if after three days of putting on the show, only a handful of people had ANYTHING to say in regards to your performance, everyone else was talking about how they loved Michael and his character deserved better (my friend told me people were CHANTING that.)

This was not a fandom convention, this was not a concert. You don’t scream during plays or musicals, you don’t sing along. And you show the actors some fucking respect. These aren’t people cosplaying your Favorite Gays™, these are professionals putting effort and love into a show which you just ruined the viewing experience of, and then did not give them the credit they deserved. Please learn some fucking manners.
