i think the most mind boggling part of this is that theres no set in stone plan for how they’re gonna define “bannable”. They haven’t explained how to prevent your blog from beinng deleted. They haven’t clarified whats considered nsfw, and their current filters certainly don’t understand. Will you be banned for having previous nsfw content on your blog? Should you delete it? I have over 90,000 posts. Do I search every single one to find what might be nsfw? Is it only nsfw content after the purge? Would that in turn even affect anything? This is such an empty plan, at least with what they’re barely willing to tell us

actually they’ve told us explicitly what to do and that’s if your nipples present as female you’ve got to draw like little hairs or mustaches on them or something and make your nipples present as male and then you’re good to go

sorry I just dont think its woke to talk about how banning all nsfw content is great because of [insert joke about horny people oppression]. I know many people who do sex work to survive who, instead of being given aid and provided safety and alternatives, are driven further and further into underground networks. people who have posted images of their medical transitions will be denied a platform, I’ve already had many of the images I’ve posted to chronicle my medical transition flagged, people I know who produce artwork of trans people existing as normal human beings are having their content deleted, and a lot of these people are artists whose income depends on it and a lot of their audience is other people who, on any other website, are treated as inhuman objects. like I said I think if tumblr gave a rat’s ass about anything they’d be able to have appropriate filters and an actually effective safe search and an actual working interactive reporting feature and there is no way they do not have the revenue to have a moderator team that handles these kinds of things specifically to bar out pedophilia, rape, abuse, incest, etc.

This is a bigger deal than “horny is banned”, sadly. I’ve got text posts that are completely clean blacklisted from my own damn blog search; the same for art, just based on pixel groupings and a few buzzwords.

Censorship Is a Slippery Slope, especially when it’s done by computers, even moreso when the people behind the computers are the monumental dumbasses that run this site.

Tumblr User: Horny is illegal! Ha ha!

Tumblr staff, banning that user because they posted a picture of their golden retriever that contained too many “flesh-colored” pixels: Horny is illegal.

you can’t even search your own blog for words that are vaguely lewd-related either

it’s like the shitty word filters they put in R6 siege or the newer battlefield games

anyways please support sex workers during this. donate / support what content you can. reblog posts with their information if they’re choosing to move to another platform. don’t treat their livelihoods as a footnote in these discussions of these new policies.
