Welcome to the Rockyverse

99.9% of what you see on this blog is art and ramblings about my OCs. Speaking of them, I am big OC shipping trash so much of the art you see will be of them smooching their designated soul mates.

⚠️DISCLAIMER⚠️This blog is 18+ and is intended for an adult audience. While I am not planning on straight up sharing NSFW, my art does touch on mature topics and suggestive jokes and themes. I am not comfortable interacting with minors.

That being said, PLEASE make sure you read my FAQ first before sending in an ask.

I also have a list of boundaries (very helpful if anyone ever decides they would like to make fan art of any OCs)

I’m sure you’ve been asked, sorry if you have, but what’s the little lines on Jack’s cheeks in older designs? Art style thing, or like the equivalent to blush lines just permanent? Sorry if this seems rude I’m just genuinely curious ;w;

This isn't rude at all because I love talking about Jack so much (y'all will never truly understand how much I will never get sick of talking about this lad)

SO back when I first started Beanstalked, I would give him these dirt smudges on his cheeks since he tend to do a lot of stuff on the farm so sometimes he'd get smudges on him

But when I would draw him on paper, I would shorthand the smudges with hashtag lines since I used to always sketch stuff in pen. So I just carried that over to digital since it was also a time saver when working on pages.

And eventually they stopped being dirt smudges and just shifted over to being protagonist cheek markings like Ash and Naruto have since Jack is basically a dumping ground for my favorite protagonist tropes.

Over the years though, I realized "Jack actually looks really cute with freckles and stuff on his face...too bad I can't change it" only to remember I am god of my world and I actually can change things.

AND HERE WE ARE TODAY!

Jack's design evolution is one of my faves out of all my OCs tbh

Starting on Glitter and Guilt's next chapter and I'm coloring the first page and Umbra accidentally winded up looking like pastelerized Hueco Mundo 😭

I LIKE THE LOOK THO BC I'M CHANNELING COLORFUL NIGHTMARE SINCE IT'S A WHOLE ASS REALM but DAMN Bleach has truly bleached my brain

I was amazed with Electrick's design, was he inspired by Luchadores?? I just always love how you show your wonderful ocs expressing thier emotions soo much. You're the best at it. Everything you do is a beautiful masterpiece.

Thank you so much!

Electrick was based off wacky 2000s rhythm games and their colorful character designs. He was also inspired by Guitar Hero itself since I remember their characters you could select were often pretty fun looking.

I do love luchadores though (more because of the aspect and culture surrounding them and their cool mask designs). I have a character in Glitter and Guilt lightly based off them BUT he is still a big work in progress although I have shared a WIP of him ages ago.

Nana pre-Red Beans period is so funny to me because she is the most "Never put in me or involve me in a situation" person until Jack comes along and she slowly shifts over to "I will endure this situation because of the cute farm boy" because she was experiencing a crush for the first time in her life and was learning first hand that love makes you make dumb decisions.

And that lowkey pissed her off because she likes to be a coherent thinker but along comes Jack and now she's fumbling her brain cells all because he's super nice and gentle with her and her introvertedness...plus he has a really nice voice and has a really nice scent but she'd be damned if she told anyone that last part.

I've been drawing these two making out since 2015 and they're the #1 reason my art has improved

EASY TO SAY IF NOT FOR THEM, I WOULD NOT BE WHERE I'M AT RIGHT NOW

I know it makes no sense for Jazzmine to have an android when she’s meant to be from the 80s but listen I am lazy

I don't really talk about him, or the story concept he's a part of, like...ever anymore but Electrick remains one of my fav lowkey OC designs.

I'm saying lowkey only because I have a ton of OCs that I still think about occasionally but only draw like...once a year if they are lucky. None of my OCs are ever truly gone or abandoned, they are just in lay away until it's their time to shine again.

Have you ever thought about posting your comics on Webtoon?

Truth be told I regret posting comics over there.

Beanstalked is the only one honestly (Jack and Nana's lil comic thingie is on hiatus rn) but the only reason I still update Beanstalked over there is because...well it's already there from years ago when I was optimistic about the site. And there's still some fans lingering and waiting for updates.

But I'm not planning on posting anything else over there. The comments are a trainwreck you can't moderate, the rules for what you're allowed to have in your comic is...too strict for all my other stories outside of Beanstalked. And even then, Beanstalked is gonna dabble on some gore and horror so Imma be walking a thin line over there when we get to that point in the story.

AND I hate scrolling format for my comics. I am a page-by-page comic artist so I prefer having the option to have a more traditional format instead of being forced to format my stuff for scrolling.

I was considering posting some of Glitter and Guilt over there but after seeing how their contracts potentiallly look if you want to have your stuff become an original??? THAT PUT THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR ME

I don't even wanna become an original Webtoons creator, it just rubs me wrong how they do others dirty.

SO YEAH I'M GOOD OVER ON MY COMICFURY. Tapas ain't as bad as Webtoons either...at least not yet.

I hope that statement ages well.

Were there any particular reasons that Sweetheart changed her magical girl outfit over the years? or did she just thought it be neat?

Avatar

In my story verse, Charmed (what magical girls are known as) outfits adapt to their user to fit them.

Both in size and personality.

People don't like the same exact things they liked when they were kids. Charmed outfits will also change if the Charmed themselves gets tired of their outfit or they go through real life changes. Sometimes outfits will temporarily alter themselves to adapt to environments like extreme cold or extreme heat.

This is all so they feel comfortable as maximum comfort is of utter importance when you are using magic to save the world.

For a more petty irl reason, I also am really tired of the constant joke about magical characters hating their outfits and being forced into them so I wanted to do something different.

I just read your red beans fic with sailor jack and mermaid nana and it was so good, really well written and I personally found reading the flashbacks really easy.

I absolutely NEED to know what happened after they ditch the boat

Avatar

THANK YOU! HONESTLY-I really need to like...return to that story (and give it a fresh coat of paint since I think I can do it better justice with how the two's personalities have developed over the years) because that fic is like a peek into a WHOLE au where Lore is covered mostly by ocean so a lot of continents are broken into islands which has led to a never ending age of piracy with a splash of fairy tales...because I love pirates.

But since it'll be awhile before I get that juice back to work on a full fic again, the original off screen ending for the two is Nana getting Jack to the nearest chunk of land and the two starting from square one on their own terms and eventually the beginning of Jack becoming a (good) pirate himself with Nana as his first mate.

Speaking of Jack and Nana's lil comic...I should just reboot it and give it it's own like Comicfury site.

It's not that I grew disinterested in working on their thing, it's just that I got so busy with Glitter and Guilt so I never got the time to draw more of their stuff but I'd REALLY like to get back to it but with more heart this time.

It'd be a nice place to dump some Beanstalked gags that I can't fit into the main comic as well.
