Fic rec ask: I don't suppose you have any recommendations of Loki whump (preferably physical damage, but honestly I just want him suffering right now). I have a preference for Frostiron but so long as there's no Thorki I'll take anything and everything.

Low-Key Whump:

Always feel bad when I see someone say something like "I don't have a disability but I have [something that is a disability but society doesn't treat like one]"

Migraines. Food allergies. GERD. Vision problems. Skin problems. For people that menstruate, conditions that cause irregular and painful cycles. Those are all disabling. Anything that impairs you from functioning or completing a basic life task without accommodation is a disability. Anything that makes you spend days in bed during a flare up is a disability! Not everyone experiences your symptoms and you're not being weak or whiny.

Mental illnesses that people treat as "mainstream" these days like anxiety, depression, or ADHD are still disabilities. Overcoming a massive struggle just to get out of bed, slow down your thoughts, or focus on what you need/want to do is disabling. Starting the day with less mental energy than most people is disabling.

For the migraine people: yes, everyone gets headaches, but no not everyone gets migraines. It's a condition that can be inherited in which our nerves are literally wired differently and more sensitive than someone who doesn't get migraines.

For the food allergy and digestive disorder people: if you eat something your body can't tolerate, you become sick. Doesn't matter if it's a trip to the ER or skin irritation for a few hours, that's a negative response in your body. Going hungry at social events because you can't eat anything, that's not something you just have to grin and bear. Prohibitively expensive or hard-to-find accessible food. Most people have the privilege of not worrying about eating.

For people with abnormal menstrual cycles: you don't have to suck it up because "lots of people get periods, no one likes them, but they all deal with it." Majority of people who get periods don't spend days in bed with debilitating pain or nausea. Your heightened struggle is real. Going months between cycles can increase your risk of health conditions down the line, and it's good to speak to a gynecologist if you have access to one.

If you are feeling discomfort on a regular basis in any part of your body, or if you usually feel unwell after eating, that isn't normal and you deserve medical attention and support

"You know, I don't think I've ever walked this much in my life," is such an objectively funny line honestly

When Sylvie threatened Ravonna, I thought Loki should be in Sylvie's place. With a psychopathic smile from the Avengers. I preferred how the MCU saw Loki as evil incarnate, not a hero. Because it was written well then.

Yep. Neither of them have that ambiguity element which could turn the character dangerous and unpredictable and enjoyable to watch.

The theory that the show is Marvel's way of phasing out TH Loki is starting to sound more and more plausible. They've tried killing him off but he keeps coming back somehow, so now they're underpowering him and slowly replacing him with Sylvie.

There *might* still be hope for a power up for Loki since that was what Marvel did for "heroes" in other shows. But they have established in this episode that Loki is a horrible person and he has only changed because of Sylvie and since Sylvie was the more heroic one and frankly the protagonist up until now, that power up might be hers. Who knows. Then they can replace him with Sylvie or Kid Loki. My money is on Kid Loki for the main timeline though. Maybe Loki and Sylvie continue their adventure in S2?

If you are going to have literally no criteria for being queer, then how can you say that anyone isn't? How can you refer to any person in any context as cis/straight?

If someone tells me they’re queer I believe them. If someone tells me they’re straight I believe them. This isn’t that hard

Avatar

What so like a cis het allo person can just call themselves queer now?

What problem, exactly, are you so concerned about? I don’t know if you’ve noticed but queerness is still very much marginalized, it’s not as “trendy” as people try to act, and straight people aren’t tripping over themselves to call themselves queer. And if you’re worried about being “tricked” by “infiltrators”, like, you know those people can just say that they’re gay? Like they can lie? They’re not going to try and “sabotage” queer spaces by saying “hey I don’t have any marginalized orientations or identities but I’m still totally queer”, they’d just say “hey I’m super gay, love people of the same gender”

What, concretely, are you worried about happening? What’s the worst thing that could happen due to inclusivity? Because the worst things that can happen due to gatekeeping are very well-known, and I’m much more scared of that

It’s less that it’s trendy and more like, I like having my queer-only spaces. Also queer is a bad word. All our words are bad words. They aren’t oppressed, and for a cishetallo to use a slur as their identity feels a little demeaning to me. Like I dont hate them of course but the A was never for Ally . It’s not queer to be normal

Interacting with them is cool and having them at pride I’m not opposed to but as a person who’s queer it does feel like they’re kinda dressing it up

Im gonna be honest Ive never seen people like that but like, I’m allowed to not like it

I’m not going to distrust and exclude people because of a problem you made up. If someone tells me they’re queer, I believe them

☝☝☝ and also: if you’ve been thinking you’re allo, straight and cis because it’s the default assumption but the thought of being queer becomes appealing to you, chances are that there is something in terms of gender and orientation that you need to explore.

Taika Waiti hesitated between portraying Loki as a murderous maniac who wanted Thor, Bruce and Val dead, and Thor's somewhat clumsy little brother who helps him but is worse than Thor. I suspect that only Hiddleston's acting skills saved Loki's character from complete ruin.

Image

He tried to find a way to retcon Loki in the worst possible way and take away all of his depth and pathos from him.
