I think the reason I’m so attached to Laphicet as a character (and this contains spoilers for Abyss and Berseria so pull out now) is the fact that he reminds me so much of Ion. Maybe it’s regret for not being able to save Ion. That’s probably why I’m so protective over Laphicet. And I know they’re “only fictional characters” or whatever. But the scene with Ion at Mt. Zaleho destroyed me. I’m still not over it. Not to mention, both of them probably started out emotionless/shy to some degree (Laphicet being a newborn Malak who was a slave to Exorcists and Ion being a Replica who was created to be a carbon copy of the real Ion), until they both become their own person, in which both refuse to be puppets. They also both love studying new things, are extremely kind/complete cinnamon rolls and have someone they want to protect. I will forever be salty that Namco made the terrible choice of giving Laphicet Richard’s costume, when Ion has never been used before, and is so similar to the Malak.
