The Atlas personality, drawing on the myth of the giant Atlas from Greek mythology upholding the world, is typically found in a person who felt obliged during childhood to take on responsibilities (extending beyond normal household chores or looking after siblings) such as providing psychological support to parental figures, often in a chaotic family situation.

They are thus liable to develop a pattern of compulsive caregiving in later life.

The result in adult life can be a personality devoid of fun,

and feeling the weight of the world on their shoulders

Depression and anxiety

as well as over-sensitivity to others

and an inability to assert their own needs, are further identifiable characteristics.

In addition, there may also be an underlying rage against a parent for not having provided love, and for exploiting the child for their own narcissistic needs.

While Atlas personalities may appear to function adequately as adults,

they may be pervaded with a sense of emptiness and be lacking in vitality.

SU Mini Theory: Steven Will Corrupt Himself After Repeating Pink Diamond’s Worst Mistake

In the last pisode of Future before the hiatus, we were left with a very lost feeling Steven, so much so that he’s turned to a erm.. very unhealthy, and I’d say creepy coping mechanism;

All of his friends moving on to bigger things has sent his need to feel needed skyrocketing. Now he’s tending to plants he’s named after his friends, because these plants will always need him and, more importantly, can’t leave. Right?

Except oh, oof, um.. yeah, about that., one did leave him. That must’ve been traumatic af as we’re left with a somber shot of Steven, holding a flower that was given to him by the plant who’s leaving. So, we have a Steven who reeeaaallly needs to feel needed and loved by the people around him. Hmmmmm where could he go to find endless amounts of validation, i wonder?

Steven’s going to get desperate enough to go see the Diamonds, except whoops

He’s not needed there anymore either, because Spinel is there, who i predict by this point will have also made strides moving on from Pink Diamond, and thus also Steven. When he realizes this, we’ll probably get another Pink Steven outburst, which will inevitably lead,

to this;

Steven will corrupt White Diamond, and I presume not only corrupt her, but take over her, much like how she was able to take over other gems. Why? Recognize the pose yet?

Steven only takes that pose when he’s going through intense turmoil. He’s going to go through the mother of identity crisis once he corrupts WD, and after that, well, it’s all heading to the one thing we’re all thinking, and its been forshadowed in the show before:

What event will cause him to corrupt himself, you ask? Welp, hold on to your hats, because there’s one piece of forshadowing we all got wrong, fam: What did Pink Diamond do to Pink Pearl? What act made her learn to control her temper again?

Oh.

I’m,,,, writing a fic :0! Basically it’s an AU in which some Crystal Gems discovered Spinel and asked Rose to investigate. Rose initially didn’t want to deal with her again, but then decides to see if perhaps maybe Spinel can change with her help now that she has a new identity as Rose Quartz. That she could perhaps come to the conclusion to leave the garden and find another purpose (since we all know Pink/Rose loved change).

The fic kinda builds up to this scene I drew! (whoops spoilers jdfafggf, tbh the point of the fic is the journey, not the destination uwu)

So yeah! Check it out if you want to! I’m currently one chapter in, so this scene hasn’t shown up yet!
