Biography Sam had always been someone who cared for others, and their wellbeing. It started when he was a kid and his brother and sister were just babies. He felt an almost overwhelming responsibility to care for them, especially with his parents working so hard. It only increased when he was a teenager and his parents lost their job. Without a second's consideration for his future, Sam dropped out of high school, got a fake ID, and started working as a professional Switch. It was far from what Sam wanted to do with his life, but earning money and being able to feed his little brother and sister more than made up for anything he was missing out on. He was absolutely sure of that. If a few clients got a little too handsy, then so what? His family were fed and clothed, and that was what was important. It was two years before Sam quit being a Professional Switch. His parents finally found work, and Sam could finally focus on himself. What he found as he focused on himself, though, he didn't like what he saw. Two years of working as a Pro Switch for a less-than-reputable company and clients who didn't know the meaning of the words 'respect' and 'aftercare' left Sam feeling more damaged and drained than ever before. He was nineteen, a high-school dropout, and the thought of dominating or submitting to anyone made him feel dirty. Even though his parents were providing for the family now, Sam was still stuck in the same mentality he'd had to adopt over the last couple of years. He couldn't confide in his parents, feeling like he still needed to be strong for them, and his siblings were too young to understand. Sam threw himself into the local gym. When he wasn't babysitting his brother and sister, he was lifting weights and doing everything he could to achieve the perfect body. It was all he could focus on, and it made him feel better. A month went by, and a Dominant on the gym staff started flirting with him. Feeling a little uneasy but more confident than he had felt in nearly a year, Sam agreed to go on a date. The date went well, and eventually, Sam agreed to a scene. His first since he stopped working as a professional. As soon as the Dominant touched him, gave him orders, Sam freaked out. He screamed and shouted, before running from the man's house. He ran straight home, hoping to hide from the world, or at least his parents. But they saw him, and after a little coaxing, the truth came out. Sam hadn't been working in an office for two years, and his experiences had left him with mental and emotional scars. The three of them sat up for hours, talking over the best way for Sam to get some help. His parents knew they'd failed him and were determined to do everything they could to right their wrong. Sam started going to therapist who specialised in this area. Some sessions he'd talk about his family, his wishes for the future, and what had happened to him. Other times, he'd sit in silence and enjoy not having any expectations placed on him for that one hour. Almost a year after starting therapy, Sam slowly came to the realization that staying where he was wasn't going to help. As much as he loved his family, he needed time away from them and away from the town his troubles had taken place in. He toyed with the idea of simply moving somewhere, but the thought of being totally alone was a scary one. Finally, he mentioned the idea to his therapist who showed support for the idea. Bringing in a social worker friend of hers, Sam's therapist managed to get a recommendation to Harborage House for him.
