I kinda dunno what to do with myself here... Feels like I’m revisiting a home I was forcibly evicted from.

And so, this blog apparently is no longer terminated.

Discussing plot things with friend for world building stuff-- we get to talking about Secret Societies and such.

I learned of the exsistence of the oculists. Excuse me... The Great Enlightend Society of Oculists.

Rehashing and spitting out some info shared with me and what I gleened from quickly looking stuff up that wasn't just a wikipage

Apperently, said group was composed of ophtamologists and other surgeons supposedly doing some amazing and revolutionary stuff with eyes and eyesight. They tinkered in the field of eye surgery and experimented with such. However, there is the implication that they may have only been a group of spies talking shit about F.reema/sons with texts loaded with plenty of esoteric messages and the like.

They also apperently used the 'eye' as the symbol of knowledge and enlightenment... Now couple this with all the eye symbolism, eye surgery research and experiments(front or not), and how they used the eye as a symbol for knowledge...

I'm side-eyeing Byrgenwerth real hard. Can you imagine though? Like its already dripping with so many 'secret society' elements I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Fave: Characters that are trapped in awful situations who completely reclaim themselves and take their lives back in full force.

Also a fave to write: well deserved act of vengeance after a long and drawn out bout of tension and suffering.

also @gallowsghost (because you sent me the same question as well, here you go friend!)If by ‘blind spot’ this means a recurrent personal oversight, then yes, she does have one that she has been perpetually unable to repair. Despite her dedication to research, prying and her personal goals, she is, at heart, a physician first. As such, she was prone to moments of moral lapse where she would lend her hand and give away her trust too easily in her earlier years, when it was already something that was straining. Especially if someone was in need.

The event that unfolded had some consequences that carried well into the later years–

This specific ‘blind spot’ occurred early in her life when she had agreed to help a colleague whom she considered a team-mate and friend. This person had given their honored-word of quid-pro-quo in order to gain her trust and her aid and essentially played her. Originally, this agreement should have concluded after she had aided this colleague in a specific act of body-snatching. Unfortunately, they had betrayed her trust and further embroiled her in a larger scheme orchestrated by a third party with ulterior motives and no intention to let her go too easily. She was trapped. Another situation where any and all control had been completely ripped away from her. Almost…She also wasn’t the only person trapped in that situation– but that’s another part of the story. This event had become an indelible mark on her life and memory as well as her career. Despite the impact of this misplaced trust, she does give her all for her patients and those she allows herself to actually trust and freely help. However, that doesn’t go without some strain on her part.This event was one of the catalysts to some other personal issues I’ve already talked about a good bit, I’ve also mentioned this in-part more than once. I hope this answers that… aaaaa I tried to be as clear as I could because it can be tricky to pin. I would not say this is her ‘biggest’ and to be honest, with as closed off as she can be it can be really hard to grasp.
