it’s not normal for parents to verbally + mentally abuse their children when their grades start slipping. it’s not normal for parents to withhold love and affection from their children when their grades go down or they get a low score on a test. it’s not normal for a parent’s basic care and affection for their child to come and go based on their child’s grades.

if you have (or had) parents like this, you deserve better. you deserve parents who ask you what’s up with your grades with understanding and love, who ask you what it is you’re struggling with, and try their best to help you improve. you don’t deserve to have to live in fear of your parents yelling at your, hurting you, or withdrawing their affection and becoming cold towards you if you don’t get absolute perfect grades all the time.
