Hello there! I'm Arden, and this is my makeup and art blog. Too young to be too old for this. Self-taught.

Looking at everything going on with social media right now, I have finally decided to start posting my own art here! So time for a little introduction: I am a Finnish concept artist and illustrator currently working in the games industry! I love drawing characters and cute things, and am generally inspired by nature and fantasy themes (especially sticks, antlers, and DnD) 🌿✨️

who has that post about the big statue with like a snake pillar body and sunburst head w/black spot on it that turns to look at you

A of all, thank you for knocking that one out in 2 minutes flat. B of all, for context, right before making this post i got this text

[id: received text message of a photo of xu zhen's artwork Hello, the work described in the previous post. replying text message reading in all caps "that bitch is at Stanford?"]

apparently it's not doing the turning-to-look thing at present so i wanted to give proof. also now i need to visit!!!

there's two versions of this statue! her name is "hello", and both this and the moving version are by artist Xu Zhen. the first iteration, made of silicone, steel, resin, and animatronic mechanisms, has been moving from museum to museum - and very much still does turn to look you in the face, sometimes getting very close up to do so!!

this one that youve spotted in the wild is also named Hello but was made as part of the ongoing Standford Plinth project! she's made of cast bronze, will sit here for two years, and then be rotated out for another statue. i think she is so wonderful you are so lucky to see her!!! :D

xu zhen describes his big column snake with a cavity for a head as "cute". i think he is right :)

here's an article about it if you'd like to read more!

LORE!!!
