WIP pinned post thing because I keep forgetting about that..!

I'll organize it a bit better over time but for now, it's a good place to put links and tags and stuff: I finally made one of those carrd accounts so people can more easily find all the places I might post (tumblr is def kind of the main place these days though.) https://37viggen.carrd.co/ Also all art posts are tagged under "#Jet Art" - working on setting up a separate blog page for people who want to follow just the art, under @37viggen !

I suppose i could work this into that "what am I here to see" post.

1. Your penwork is phenomenal and you work that into mechanical designs, on top of that you make them fluid instead of rigid which is just *chef's kiss*. In short im here for your machine drawings

2. Peaches the Daemon Engine is precious (I have a newfound love for Daemon Engines since starting a personal project)

Hey there! Didn't mean to forget to respond to this LITERAL MONTHS LATER but I was working on a response drawing, got too detailed with it, and then forgotti. Classic. (gonna give it its own post in a bit pff) But yes glad you enjoy the Machine Friends! Bringing the mechanical "to life" is like my entire schtick, so yes... it can be tough to make mechanical things feel like they are moving and running around in a "natural" way so I try to work a lot of energy into my sketches... I'm super glad when people pick up on that, especially with the less obviously humanoid/animalistic (zoomorphic?) ones where such expression is tougher to work with! Anyway, more Peaches for you, and some more in a wee bit haa:

A robot from a world where the '90s never ended

The lore and story are good I promise

How about some ✨aesthetics✨ talk about this bot?

Yeah, I wanted to draw something outside my usual style to serve as the "aliens" for the cassette futurist bots of the main timeline... but also...

Have you noticed how there's nearly nothing robotic based on the frutiger aero and y2k era?

It's like you have a ton of raygun/midcentury era robots... then a little bit in the cassette era (the emptiness there is why I began to explore those more, most robot stuff there seems to be the synthetic stuff like Blade Runner and Aliens, or mainframes), then next to nothing in the 90s and 2000s styles, then a whole lot of contemporary.

My only references were like, the iMac G3/G4 and those shitty robot dog toys, mostly...

I'm interesting in exploring this design language a bit more in the future, so if you have good references for machinery (or other stuff?) please reply with it! Or if you have ideas let me know!

Ohhh I sure do have some Thoughts about this one! I'll put it under a cut because this is a long stream-of-thought ramble ahead, with lots of pictures:

The whole explosion of AI “art” and all the virulent things people who have this weird concept of artists as greedy gatekeepers to be punished are saying on the topic and how they hope artists are replaced by it in all creative industries has really had the unforeseen effect of making me look and interact with my own art and other people’s art in a much more personal way.
