Seeing people trying to say that EO’s are safe to ingest on my dash…

Seriously for the fucking millionth time, I don’t know how many people on this site have to scream until we go blue in the face

DON’T INGEST ESSENTIAL OILS

Not now. Not ever. Not a drop. Not half a drop. Do. Not. Ingest. Them. Ever.

There’s no such thing as “food grade” essential oils. Stop your foolishness.

For those of you who need clarification, are too lazy to use google, or insist on having an argument with me, behold!

Straight from Posion Control

Many people think essential oils are harmless because they are natural and have been used for a long time. In some cases, that is simply not true. Many essential oils can cause rashes if used on the skin. Many can be poisonous if absorbed through the skin or swallowed. Few have been tested like medicines have, even though people put them in their mouths, on their skin, and in their children’s vaporizers. Aspirating an essential oil can cause pneumonia; this can happen if someone tries to swallow it, but chokes so that a little goes into the lungs.
Individuals can have varying reactions to essential oils, as they might to other medicines and products. For example, anyone can be allergic to anything – whether or not it causes allergic reactions in others. Children, with their thin skin and immature livers, might be more susceptible to toxic effects than adults. There could be interactions with other drugs, too. Depending on how the essential oil is prepared, there could be toxicity from other ingredients; these preparations often contain other oils or alcohol.
Since essential oils generally are not regulated, it can be hard to know exactly what is in the essential oil bottle – what species of plant, what concentration of active ingredient, or whether there are any contaminants.

Ingesting Essential Oils can cause

  • Loss of tooth enamel
  • Rashes and skin irritation
  • Hallucinations
  • Dizziness
  • Lethargy
  • Headaches
  • Stomach irritation
  • Coma
  • Seizures
  • Respiratory distress
  • Heart attacks
  • Ulcers in mouth, esophageal tracts, and stomach lining
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Death

Oh what’s that? You still don’t believe me and would rather believe an MLM scheme?

“… in light of their toxicity or other potentiality for harmful effect, the method of their use, or the collateral measures necessary to their use, they are not safe for use except under the supervision of a practitioner licensed by law to administer it.
Your Young Living Essential Oil products, “Thieves,” “Cinnamon Bark,” “Oregano,” “ImmuPower,” “Rosemary,” “Myrtle,” “Sandalwood,” “Eucalyptus Blue,” “Peppermint,” “Ylang Ylang,” “Frankincense,” and “Orange,” are also misbranded under section 502(f)(1) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 352(f)(1)], in that the labeling for these products fail to bear adequate directions for use for all of their claims. “Adequate directions for use” means directions under which a layperson can use a drug safely and for the purposes for which it is intended (21 C.F.R. § 201.5).  Prescription drugs can only be used safely at the direction, and under the supervision, of a licensed practitioner.  Therefore, it is impossible to write “adequate directions for use” for a prescription drug to be used by a layperson.  FDA-approved prescription drugs which bear their FDA-approved labeling are exempt from the requirement that they bear adequate directions for use by a layperson (21 C.F.R. §§ 201.100©(2) and 201.115).  Accordingly, because there are no FDA-approved applications for these products, the labeling of these products fails to bear adequate directions for their intended use and, therefore the products are misbranded under section 502(f)(1) of the Act.  The introduction or delivery for introduction of a misbranded drug into interstate commerce is a violation of section 301(a) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 331(a)].
The violations cited in this letter are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of violations that exist in connection with your products. While FDA has mentioned specific Young Living Essential Oil products in this letter, there are drug claims being made by your consultants for a wide range of your Young Living Essential Oil products. As such, the cited violations in this letter should not be viewed to apply solely to the specific products mentioned in this letter.
We note that some of your Young Living Essential Oil products are marketed as dietary supplements, but are offered for topical use and/or intended for inhalation. Under section 201(ff)(2)(A)(i) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 321(ff)](2)(A)(i)], a dietary supplement is defined, among other things, as a product intended for ingestion. Topical products and other products that are not intended for ingestion are not dietary supplements.  In any case, the claims referenced above in this letter are drug claims, which are not suitable claims for dietary supplements.  As such, whether or not they are intended for ingestion, the above-mentioned products are drugs under section 201(g)(1)(B) of the Act and not dietary supplements under section 201(ff) of the Act.

So what was the takeaway? EO’s are not FDA approved for consumption. AND they should be administered by a licensed practitioner. MLM representatives ARE. NOT. LICENSED. Say it with me:

ESSENTIAL OILS ARE NOT FDA APPROVED FOR INGESTION THEY ARE NOT SAFE TO INGEST

They are FDA approved for aromatherapy by a licensed practitioner. Do not conflate the two.

Wow, what’s this? A similar letter addressed to doTerra??? You don’t say.

Firstly, there is a definite difference between an essential oil distributor and a certified aromatologist or aromatherapist.
A certified aromatologist or aromatherapist will have taken extensive education over the course of at least a year that involves the chemistry of essential oils, anatomy and physiology, and even medical contraindications with medications and medical conditions you might have.
An essential oil distributor simply sells the essential oil. They do not have the educational background that they need to have to properly and safely educate you on how to use essential oils, nor are they qualified to answer questions about essential oils and what the chemical components are.
I am a Certified Clinical Aromatologist and I pride myself in my knowledge and education of Aromatherapy and Essential Oils. I provide truthful and accurate information to everyone. I am always happy to answer questions. I provide consultations. I make blends, among other things. I am a firm believer in essential oils — when used safely.
So, today’s let’s chat about the safety of essential oil ingestion and some of the reasons why safety in aromatherapy is just as important as safety when working with any chemical; natural or not.
It is important to note, that no matter the brand of essential oil, if an essential oil is pure and unadulterated, it is an extremely concentrated combination of multiple chemical constituents. Essential oils are volatile compounds, incredibly concentrated and they are definitely not the same as taking the herbal equivalent. Essential Oils have various levels of toxicity, if not used properly and under the direction of a certified professional.
To help you understand how concentrated essential oils are — it takes 256 pounds of peppermint leaves to make one pound of peppermint essential oil and it takes 150 pounds or more of lavender flowers to make one pound of lavender essential oil and it takes 10,000 rose petals to make 1 drop of rose essential oil — wow!
Let’s break it down further, one drop of peppermint essential oil is equivalent to 26–28 cups of peppermint tea — that’s one drop folks!
This isn’t to say essential oils should not be used, but they should be used carefully, with proper education by speaking to a certified professional and in safe amounts. If you wouldn’t ingest dozens of cups of an herbal tea, you should probably think twice before consuming the equivalent amount of essential oils.

And if even after all of this information, you still want to argue with me, and still want to tell people on my post of all places that they are safe to ingest and how to do so, I am fucking blocking you. You are a danger to society.

Oh and if you still have doubts? Use this link.

Please be safe! Don’t ingest essential oils! Herbal essences, which are less concentrated and created in a different way than essential oils, are ingestible! Drink those instead (after checking with your doctor, since they can still interact with medications or pre-existing health conditions.)

⭐⭐⭐Deities⭐⭐⭐

In Wicca, the deities are gods or goddesses that we follow and worship. There are so many deities that you could follow and many ways that you can choose to see and worship them. There are no right or wrong choices here. It simply depends on what feels right to you- which deities you feel drawn to and also the path that you decide to take as a Witch.  Do not be put off Wicca because the idea of having a god or goddess doesn’t feel like your thing. Following deities is actually very simple. A lot of Wiccans don’t think of gods and goddesses as actual people, higher beings, someone that once existed or as all-knowing creators of everything. Instead, we view deities as personifications of nature. Each deity represents a different aspect of something that we experience on this earth, including the natural world; there is a god or goddess to represent every single aspect of the earth and all that comes with it. It becomes easier to connect with nature if we see aspects of it in human form, because we find it easier to understand and visualize looking up to, listening to and communicating with people. So, we see deities as just human forms of nature. For example, the Armenian deity Anahit is the goddess of fertility, healing, wisdom, and water, and we think of her as the personification of these elements and powers and the spiritual energies surrounding them. Of course, you can also believe in deities in the traditional way, as supernatural powers that keep whatever they represent and look after in balance; that’s just another way of believing in your deities.  Some witches might follow a group or pantheon of deities such as the Celtic, Norse or Egyptian gods and goddesses. It’s also a common idea that gods and goddesses from different pantheons represent similar things, so they are actually similar deities that have originated from and developed and adapted in different civilizations and cultures throughout the world. If you believe this train of thought and you are happy to potentially honour all of the deities, depending on which feels right for you at the time, you could be an eclectic witch , or you could just choose one group of deities to work with if you prefer and still follow this belief, but just choose one pantheon that suits you best and you feel drawn to. Some witches only worship one or two deities and others may choose to work with one god or goddess if the pull towards that one deity seems sufficient. Some witches follow the traditional Gardnerian teaching, believing there is only one god and one goddess- the god of the sun and the goddess of the moon. There are so many deities deities that you can follow from different cultures and countries. Don’t worry if it takes you a while to find which gods and goddesses feel right for you. You can worship deities from anywhere in the world, but there are a few common ones that you hear about frequently in Wicca. This doesn’t mean that you have to follow these ones, there are just a few of the options:

(ALSO YOU CAN CHOOSE NOT TO WORK WITH ANY DEITY/GOD OR GODDESS, MAKE YOUR CRAFT YOUR OWN <3 )

First of all…

CLOSED RELIGIONS ARE CLOSED.

Just because you want some god to follow doesn’t mean you can dip into random religions because you think their deities are cool.

  • There are no right or wrong choices here. It simply depends on what feels right to you- which deities you feel drawn to and also the path that you decide to take as a Witch.”

There absolutely ARE wrong choices, like ones from CLOSED RELIGIONS THAT YOU HAVE NO RELATION TO.

  • “It’s also a common idea that gods and goddesses from different pantheons represent similar things, so they are actually similar deities that have originated from and developed and adapted in different civilizations and cultures throughout the world. If you believe this train of thought and you are happy to potentially honour all of the deities, depending on which feels right for you at the time, you could be an eclectic witch , or you could just choose one group of deities to work with if you prefer and still follow this belief, but just choose one pantheon that suits you best and you feel drawn to.”

Ah, yes, again deciding that it’s okay to shove your way into closed religions because of what you feel drawn to. No. That is not how this works.

  • “You can worship deities from anywhere in the world, but there are a few common ones that you hear about frequently in Wicca.”

NO YOU CANNOT. YOU CANNOT WORSHIP DEITIES FROM EVERYWHERE BECAUSE CLOSED RELIGIONS EXIST.

It also bothers me that this post is breaking deities down into basic and simplistic definitions like they’re correspondences… oh wait.

  • A lot of Wiccans don’t think of gods and goddesses as actual people, higher beings, someone that once existed or as all-knowing creators of everything. Instead, we view deities as personifications of nature.”

W O W. You really do think gods are correspondences.

  • Of course, you can also believe in deities in the traditional way, as supernatural powers that keep whatever they represent and look after in balance; that’s just another way of believing in your deities.”

You mean like… treating them how you’re supposed to?

Also…

  • “This doesn’t mean that you have to follow these ones, there are just a few of the options:”

DEITIES ARE NOT “OPTIONS” FOR YOU TO PERUSE. DEITIES DO NOT SERVE YOU. DEITIES ARE NOT A BUFFET FOR YOU TO POKE AT FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT.

SHOW SOME RESPECT.

The houses role in Astrology 2✨

& a breakdown of the modalities, elements, 4 sections of the chart, & the MC, ASC, DC, & IC.

This post is Part 2 of my “The Houses role in Astrology” posts. Part 1 explains the house wheel & breaks down each of the 12 houses. In this post I will be breaking down the different divisions of the house wheel by going through the quadrants, the elements, & the modalities briefly. Part 1 here.

Quadrants - What are they? There are twelve houses & four quadrants. This means that 3 houses make up 1 Quadrant. The quadrants are basically four sections of the house wheel that can tell you a lot about the direction in which your life is focused. If you have a lot of planetary energy in one or two quadrants, then that can tell you a lot about the focus of your energy. If you have planets all over the place, that can also tell you’re a bit scattered in direction or that you’re balanced in all areas of life.

✨Quadrant 1 (Awareness of Self): 1-3

The first Quadrant refers to houses 1-3 which are primarily self focused houses. Having a lot of energy focused in this Quadrant can indicate that in this lifetime, your purpose is to really hone in on your personality & yourself. Info on Quadrant 1 here.

✨Quadrant 2 (Integration w/ Environmnt): 4-6

The Second Quadrant refers to houses 4-6 which are primarily environment related houses. Having a lot of energy within this Quadrant can indicate there’s a lot of focus on your foundation, home life, routine, creativity & self expression, & your relationships with your mother, family, & children. In this life it’s heavily emphasized that you really develop through your relationships with those closest to you and you really work on building a foundation that’s comfortable for you. Routine, the arts, & comfort are a big theme within this Quadrant as well. Info on Quadrant 2 here.

✨Quadrant 3 (Awareness of Others): 7-9

The Third Quadrant refers to houses 7-9 which are primarily relationship & people oriented houses. Having a lot of energy within this Quadrant can indicate that there’s a really big focus in this life to learn through your relationships with others. You most often feel like yourself when you’re around others & the more you meet new people or spend your time with others, the more you learn about yourself and the environment around you. A really big part of this life is to learn about partnership and working with others. Info on Quadrant 3 here.

✨Quadrant 4 (Integrarion w/ Society): 10-12

The Fourth Quadrant refers to houses 10 - 12 which are primarily humanitarian & society oriented houses. In this lifetime there’s a lot of focus to really learn and expand through friendship, society, & healing. These people are very goal oriented & they have a lot of focus on their career, goals, & things that are highly important to society or “the bigger picture.” Info on Quadrant 4 here.

More info on the Quadrants here, here, & here.

-

What are the modalities? There are 3 different modalities (cardinal, Fixed, & Mutable). The modalities within the wheel chart are called “Angular” which corresponds with cardinal energy, “Succedent” which corresponds with Fixed energy, & “Cadent” which corresponds with Mutable energy. If you are not familiar with cardinal, Fixed, & Mutable energy than look here for reference. My post on the modalities is here.

✨Angular Houses: 1, 4, 7, & 10

The Angular Houses corresponds with the Cardinal signs - Aries (1), Cancer (4), Libra (7), & Capricorn (10). These houses are more so about the “action” in life & they showcase a lot about you and your relationship with others. The first house is the house of self, the 4th house is the house of your upbringing, the 7th house is the house of interpersonal relationships, & the 10th house is the house of your goals and dreams. More info on the Angular Houses here.

✨Succedent Houses: 2, 5, 8, & 11

The Succedent Houses correspond with the Fixed signs - Taurus (2), Leo (5), Scorpio (8), & Aquarius (11). These houses are mainly about possessions & resources which ultimately goes to this idea of “security.” More info on the Succedent Houses here.

✨Cadent Houses: 3, 6, 9, & 12

The Cadent Houses correspond with the Mutable signs - Gemini (3), Virgo (6), Sagittarius (9), & Pisces (12). The Cadent Houses are all about our though process and why we do the things we do. The 3rd house is all about communication and lower education, the 6th house is about service and routine, the 9th house is about philosophy, religion, & higher education, and the 12th house is about our dreams, subconscious, & fears. More info on the Cadent Houses here.

More info on the modality of the Houses here, here, & here.

What are the Elements? There are four different elements within Astrology (fire, Earth, Water, & Air). Each element has corresponding qualities & those different elemental qualities will reflect in the houses. Info on the elements here for reference.

✨Fire Houses: 1, 5, & 9

The fire houses - Aries (1), Leo (5), & Sagittarius (9) - are houses that involve action, energy, & the experience of being/feeling “alive” which all in turn leads to this idea of Idenity. 1st house is the house of self, 5th house is the house of self expression, creativity, & “fun,” & the 9th house is the house of religion, philosophy, travel, & our beliefs. More info here.

✨Earth Houses: 2, 6, & 10

The Earth Houses - Taurus (2), Virgo (6), & Capricorn (10) - are houses that involve routine, comfort, & this idea of money & stability. The 2nd house is about finances, possessions, & values, the 6th house is about service & routine, the 10th house is career, our goals, & our dreams. More info here.

✨Air Houses: 3, 7, & 11

The Air Houses - Gemini (3), Libra (7), & Aquarius (11) - are houses that involve our connection with others. The third house is the house of communication, the 7th house is the house of interpersonal relationships (romantic & business), & the 11th house is the house of friendships. More info here.

✨Water Houses: 4, 8, & 12

The water houses - Cancer (4), Scorpio (8), & Pisces (12) - are all houses that involve death? Rebirth, the subconscious, & overall this spiritual/“psychic” essence. The 4th house is our roots (involving death/resting place), the 8th house is rebirth, death, & destruction, and the 12th house is illusion, the subconscious, & dreams. More info here.

More info on the elements here, here, & here.

Please be mindful that these are the most brief & basic of interpretations in order to get you started on the idea of these divisions. I have some helpful links to help & there are also other ways to divide the chart - these are just the three basic beginner ones that I found were the easiest to learn.

Witch Tip: Curse Jars

🕷 When you’re making a curse jar/bottle, before you seal it off, fill it with smoke

🕸 You can use smoke from a burnt sigil or mix in certain things to have a desired affect, like cigarette smoke which is toxic and cancerous

Smoke can be used to:

🕷 Make your target feel like they’re suffocating

🕸 Cloud their judgement

🕷 Cause confusion

🕸 Hide things from them

🕷 Anything else you can think of!

As a witch who is also white, I just gotta say that once I find out that a witchy practice is closed (ex. Smudging or hoodoo) I back up right away.

I don’t get how y’all think you are entitled to any of these types of practices

From one white person to another: knock it off, there are so many witchy things you can do. Don’t take things away from others. It’s a shit thing to do.

Reading Pendulums

So, pendulums are a form of divination which many seem to shy away from as they cannot make them work. I won’t claim to know exactly what everyone means by that, because I’ve never really had that problem, but pendulums do take some reasoning with.

Pendulums can work through a variety of sources, again, that’s something you’ll need to ask your own pendulum for yourself, but one thing which applies to all pendulums is that they work via energy. Pendulums will use energy, from you and/or deities or spirits or however your pendulum works, and use this to divine answers. That’s an important note because if you don’t know how your pendulum is working, it may not be able to it’s full potential!

The first thing you need to establish is how your pendulum says yes and no because no two pendulums are the same. Simply ask! Do so twice over to really get the idea, then ask test questions. Here’s how my session with a new pendulum usually starts:

  • Which direction is yes
  • Which direction is no
  • Just to clarify, please swing yes
  • And swing no
  • So is my middle name G* (will swing yes)
  • And my dad’s name is F* (will swing no)
  • Am I X (yes question)
  • And Y (no question)

Doing a little session like this gives you the chance to see how your pendulum swings. If you use pendulum boards, this won’t be as applicable because it’ll respond via a board, but it’s still good to get an idea of how your pendulum freestyle.

One thing you’ll notice right off the bat is the change in direction is not abrupt. After asking a question, wait a few seconds, and you may notice your pendulum begins to swing a circle, before settling in a new direction. A circle can be “Maybe” to some pendulums, or “Can’t answer” and so on, but if it doesn’t settle on a circular motion, it is gaining momentum to swing a new direction.

I quickly made these gifs to give everyone an idea of how your pendulum may move. They’re a bit shaky because nothing was supporting my arm in these, haha!

For my pendulum, the gifs left to right show: yes, changing answer, no

In some parts of the gifs, you can see my arm shake a bit. Slight tremors and shakes doesn’t mean you can’t use pendulums, we all get them in some form! If your hand jolts, shakes, or moves, simply steady yourself again (re-ask your question) and wait on a clear answer.

Which brings me onto a big point: wait for an answer. Sometimes my pendulum is swinging a 180 degree answer at me, other times it’s practically non-moving, and some times it just means you need to wait for the energy to move it. You can also take the strength of an answer as part of the answer: mild, certain, strong.

And that basically sums up how to read a pendulum! It’s a lot of asking and checking. You can also make pendulum boards for answers which can’t be answered with just yes or no. Such board ideas include:

  • Number board
  • Letter board
  • Astrology wheel
  • Seasons wheel
  • Months wheel
  • Past, present, future triangle

The next thing is why you’re reading a pendulum. What is it you can ask a pendulum? Well, again, some don’t want to answer certain questions. You know when someone says their pendulum doesn’t like test questions? Just like that, some pendulums won’t be happy to answer certain things. Death questions, fatalistic questions, and invasive questions usually fall into that category. But there’s still so much more to ask! Here’s some methods I often find myself using:

Interrogative Pendulum

If I think I’ve been lied to or someone is trying to haze me, I grab my pendulum (and perhaps a friend also in that situation with a pendulum), I write out many questions around the topic, and I ask them all. Many will be very similar questions or slightly different wording, so that I can get as close to the truth as possible. This works best with another person also doing so, because when your answers align you know its more valid, and if they don’t, you can work out why. An example of a session may go like this:

  • Is E hiding something
  • Has E omitted the truth
  • Has E told 100% of the truth
  • Is E telling the truth about B
  • Is B fully accurate
  • Is B actually X
  • Is B actually Y
  • Is B affected by Z

And so on. Take your situation and tear it into multiple tiny chunks, then ask all your questions. Write down each answer, then once you’re done, you should have a better idea of the full story.

Estimation Pendulum

This is just using a pendulum to arrive at a number. I do this in past life readings. First, I intuitively feel a number, or I am told or see a number or an idea. Let’s say it’s how many lives you’ve had. I then do big grouped numbers, e.g. “Has D had more than 50 lives?” no, and from there I go down “40?” no, “30?” no, “20?” yes. Now I know it is over 20 but below 30. Then, try “more than 25?” no. “Has he had 24 lives?” yes. You get the idea. Big to small, finding the number by shortening the ranges as you get better answers.

Intuitive Direction

This one is very fun to do when you want a new and unique way to pull tarot or oracle cards, pick crystals, or almost anything. Let’s say it’s tarot. Lay out as many cards as you please on your surface, hold your pendulum over them, ask your question, and move your hand with its direction. It’s pulling left? Move your hand left. Follow it’s pull until it circles over a card. Simple, that’s the card answering your question! It’s nothing too serious, just like a physical intuition guide for those who may trust their own intuition a little less. I like to use this method when I’m having doubtful days.

There’s plenty of other wonderful ideas on how to use pendulums out there, like drawing out signs or letters, or carrying them into spiritually charged areas to sense spirit energy. However you wish to use your pendulum, however your pendulum works, there’s steps you can take to help center yourself and find answers more accurately or clearly:

  • Carry your pendulum around or put it under your pillow to help strengthen your connection
  • Talk to it as you ask your questions, just as you may do a friend
  • Take mild answers and ask questions which can clarify off of it, until you’re happy you understand the answer
  • Meditate and ground before a pendulum session
  • Draw tarot cards alongside each answer for more clarity
  • Spend time understanding your pendulum by writing about it in your grimoire
  • Be open because your energy affects your pendulum

Aaaaand that sums up my advice on reading pendulums! Your answers may not always be strong, but as long as you understand how your pendulum is working and what you can ask, your journey with it should be long and thought provoking.

Love, light, and everything bright 🌻
