Writeblr re-intro

While I made an intro when I joined a while back, it was hasty and not that good because I was very nervous and just wanted to get it out, so here's another.

Name(s)

The pen name I'm planning on using is 'Isaiah Pater', but you can also call me Eli, Emil, Levi, or Lian.

Pronouns

I use fae/faer and he/him pronouns (full sets for reference: fae/faer/faer/faers/faerself and he/him/his/his/himself).

I'm 18+. I don't mind minors interacting with me/my blog, though! I try to keep it SFW for the most part, although there will definitely be some cursing. I might at some point also post adult things, considering how some of my OCs are, so I ask that minors do block the tags "#nsft" and "#spiced writing". Obviously I can't control what you do, but it's definitely preferred. If I catch you, as a minor, interacting with those posts anyway, I'll give you a soft block and warning first. Second time will be a hard block.

Others

I mostly write fantasy (to varying degrees). There might be short snippets sometimes of other genres, because it's always good to expand your abilities, but it's mainly fantasy. Most of my stories will probably also contain found family. For the rest, you'll need to look at the WIPs themselves.

I write both fanfiction and original things.

My inbox is always open for you to chat with me, ask me questions about my WIPs or me or my methods, or even to send me some of your own work if you'd like me to check it out.

And don't worry, I don't bite.

I also have places where you can financially support me if you have the means, a p@ yp@l and Ko-Fi.

I'll place my WIPs, short descriptions of them and their taglists under the cut. Some of them I will work on more than others.

my favorite thing about this post is that a handful of people have gone "oh wait! this is tangible proof that i don't need to be embarrassed about leaving a lot of comments!! i'll stop being so ashamed!" YES!! ao3 authors basically universally will die for people who comment spam. we love to see it and we do not find you weird or annoying At All.

think about it this way: we ourselves are weird enough to have spent several hours, days, or Months writing down this story. we are weird enough about the content to do that! why on Earth would we be mean and judgmental toward people who care enough to get excited about reading it?? we shared it Specifically For You To Get Excited About!

what they don't tell you about getting better at writing is that not only will you have to work on getting better at writing (intuitive, easy to understand) but you will have to work on getting better at all the parts of writing that are not writing (confusing. terrible)

THE SAILS OF A SHIP GET STRETCHED AND WARPED OVER TIME AND NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR SAFETY.

In the real world right now that you are living in there's an economy based on old sails being re sold and used for other seashore things when they are deemed not usable for ships anymore. My dad's sailing bags are all made out of old sails and he talks about the annoyance of old sails piling up in the in the ship house. The reasons being it's harder to re sell them if they have designs on them that can be easily removed or dyed over. I think about this in pirate shows when they have the fucking Jolly Rogers plasted over their sails and I'm screaming "THATS GONNA LEAVE A TRAIL RIGHT TO YOU GUYS EVERYTIME YOU HAVE TO REPLACED THE THING!!!" It's like the best way to be tracked! It stressed me out so much!!!!

Also if you look into the history of making sails it's filled with women and the forgotten importance to the textile market throughout history because it takes way longer and more people to make a sail compared to making a ship. It is the thing I think about the most when it comes to boats but is the thing least talked about unless someone rips up the sail and even then they don't talk about how they're gonna get a new sail the just idk sew it up which begs the question who's the seamstress in this group????

Sorry about this but I can't stress enough how much this is on my mind when it comes to boats because it's how the boat moves!!!!!!
