After getting over the initial shock and heartbreak of this tweet and this reply, it hit me that (and I don't know if this is a cultural thing here in the middle east or an Islamic one)
A child has to be named even if they're stillborn.
For a child to not be named, that means there's no one left to name them. They were killed along with their entire family.
I hoped I was wrong, but I checked the list of victims of Israeli attacks and found this:
Israel has ended 47 Palestinian bloodlines over the course of this genocide (or perhaps more), so you might think that this little detail isn't that important, but I don't think we should get used to cruelty of this proportion, no matter how consistently Israel commits it.
UPDATE: Hussam Bought Vegetables!
Hussam managed to put together 100 packages of vegetables for the families in Rafah camps. They were happy about this because vegetables are quite expensive in the markets.
The packages includes tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, lemon, and jalapenos.
Thanks again, everyone, for your continued support. Donate here to make a direct impact to people in Rafah camps with NO middle man in between.
ID: Video of Hussam greeting tumblr with shots of the vegetables mentioned above. Then we see the process of buying, sorting, and distributed the packages of vegetables.
First still image is of Hussam's team sorting and putting together the packages of vegetables. Second still image is of multiple stacks of boxes of tomatoes. Third still image is of a man distributing a package of vegetables to people in tents. The fourth image is of the packages of vegetables.
It kills me how everyday the posts and content about Palestine decrease because of how many people are getting killed everyday.
It also kills me how many stopped boycotting or has never even tried to boycott.
Somethings are so small to do and easy yet people don't even bother when it's a genocide that has been going and going and going not since October 7th but for decades.
UPDATE: NORTH GAZA DONATION DRIVE, Introducing Mahmoud Abu Salama
This is our team leader in North Gaza, Mahmoud Abu Salama who decided to reveal his identity.
Mahmoud is an artist, professional photographer, and journalist who has been consistently documenting what it’s like on the ground in the North of Gaza for months now. He has been broadcasting the news of horrible situations to many Arab and international news outlets, and on his instagram, which you can view here. Despite many threats to his life as a journalist he has been leading the efforts in finding supplies and distributing them to the hungry.
Our drive has reached around $6000 as of writing this which will roughly buy 12-15 bags of flour. We still have ways to go in making a good impact. So please help Mahmoud to get to our minimum goal of 25000 by the end of the week. Please consider donating today as your donations will literally save the lives of starving families!
You can follow him on Instagram @almajd_free
ID: Video of Mahmoud carrying a package of supplies as he walks through the ruins of North Gaza.
ID: A screenshot from a video that Mahmoud took of a bomb shelling in front of a house.
ID: [The first picture is of a child standing in a ruined building with the walls blown out. Mahmoud is taking this from the ground while the child is on the second floor.
The second picture is of a child with bandages on their feet. They lost one of their feet during a bombardment a few days ago. They are eating a very thin piece of bread.]
These pictures were taken by Mahmoud Abu Salama to show everyone his daily encounters as he scavenges for food and as he reports the news.
Please consider donating today or spreading the word. I cannot emphasize how badly they need aid. The drive only has two more days left! Please spread this around as much as possible!!
Please note that the first $75000 was raised over the past month for our ongoing campaign in Rafah.
This north Gaza drive is from March 4-10 and will start from the $75000 mark. The goal is to raise $25000 by the end of the week.
The thing is... Israel admitted to this from the very beginning.
They said the confessions were obtained through 'interrogation' in the Shin Bet aka torture (Shin Bet is where they like to torture Palestinian prisoners for intel) so every country that cut funding to the UNRWA knew from the beginning that Israel was using false forced statements.
The famine in Gaza is partly due to this. Never forget that.
cutting corners in safety regulations for a fucking plane is incomprehensible to me even from a solely profit motivated standpoint--plane crashes get way more media attention than, say, car crashes, so you're looking at a ton of potential customers now scared to fly on your planes after seeing the news. you're also looking at politicians using this as a PR opportunity and the possibility of government criminal investigation won't make your shareholders happy!
corporations are basically designed to prioritize short term profit even if it results in long term losses. literally a system built to make sure the most evil person is the one who maintains their position as CEO lmao
from the 2016 article:
“How General Electric worked in 1953 in the balanced best interests of all,” states a 1953 annual report from the company’s department of employee and plant community relations. The company paid out 13 cents on each dollar in sales to taxes, 44 cents to suppliers, 36 cents to employees and 1 cent to plants and equipment. “General Electric share owners got the remaining … in dividends.”
[then in the 1980's] Under Jack Welch, the firm downsized more than 100,000 workers in five years, one strategy being to dump the lowest 10% of performers.
[...]
Fair or not, Welch became the face of maximizing shareholder value — the winners and the losers. In his two decades at the helm, GE met Wall Street expectations almost every single quarter. A $14 billion company became a more than $400 billion behemoth. Welch himself made nearly a billion dollars.
Other executives in the 1980s followed suit. If they succeeded in boosting the stock price, executives stood to profit personally from generous stock options.
If they failed, they could lose their jobs. In the mid-1980s, testy shareholders with access to junk bond financing started buying big companies and firing underperforming executives. At one point, nearly a third of the Fortune 500 firms were acquired.
[...]
By then, the notion of shareholders first had become gospel. The question of whether the law actually requires putting shareholders first has been subject to hot debate.

great information, thanks for sharing!
might be useful for people confused as to how this system came to be.
(also, I want to mention friedman is partially responsible for the modern failings of antitrust laws) (since he is brought up in this article I have an excuse to complain about him as I very much enjoy to do)

So far she hasn't found anyone to distribute food and supplies to the North, but she's still trying.
Update! She found a distributor in Northern Ghazzah and is now sending donations his way as well! Thank you so much guys! Every dollar counts!
