Women!!! Your help is needed!!!

We Want The Land Coalition is looking for volunteers RIGHT NOW!

There are various opportunities available to help out on the land. Meals are provided. Not sure if you’re qualified? Most women are willing to teach you along the way. Don’t have the equipment for camping? There’s a community of women looking to help you get what you need to support women’s spaces. More about the volunteering:

Work will begin on The Land on June 23, 2019 and finish on August 24, 2019. Most of the volunteer positions will last 2 weeks. We will endeavor to give as many women as possible a chance to volunteer, but please do let us know if you are available to volunteer for more than one 2 week time period. Volunteers on The Land between July 14 and August 18, 2019 will be directly supporting the events and gatherings on The Land during these dates, but will NOT be participants in the events and gatherings, UNLESS the WWTLC volunteers are specifically invited to participate by the event organizers. Meals and hot outdoor showers will be provided for volunteers. Please be sure to let us know if you have any particular needs or limitations, so we can find a time and position that works for you. We’re dedicated to assembling a volunteer crew with diverse skills, abilities and backgrounds, to build an efficient, evolving, feminist infrastructure on The Land to carry us through our first year of events and into forever!

We are looking to fill these limited number of revolving volunteer positions to support this summer’s gatherings in the following categories:

STRIKE (1 week commitment 8/18-8/24) – Following events, volunteers will help return everything to storage and return The Land to her natural state.

VOLUNTEER KITCHEN (1 week commitment between 7/30 – 8/24) – Work with a team to prepare buffet style meals for around 25 volunteers in the old Gal’s Kitchen tent location, including prep, service, and clean up.

SECURITY/COMMUNICATIONS (1 week commitment between 7/14 – 8/18) – Provide 24 hour gate security and communication with other crews, event and gathering attendees during events, delivery drivers and local community members. Event organizers will act as box office crew to take tickets and orient event and gathering attendees, this will not be a Security/Communications task. The primary tasks will be monitoring the gate, which will include daytime and overnight shifts, and providing information to people at the gate.

CREW OF THE WILLING(FLEX)/GARBAGE/RECYCLING/SANITATION (1 week commitment between 7/15 – 8/24) – Take garbage and recycling to the dump every evening and run recycling to town weekly; stock and maintain porta-pots, shower areas, dish wash and hand wash areas; escort porta-pot pumper trucks on toilet pump runs during events, fill in with misc. tasks on other crews as they arise.

Please, fill out the application with your crew choices and dates available and we will respond with invitations. Thank you for understanding WWTLC is working almost entirely on volunteer hours and on funds raised from our community. Volunteers will be asked to work 8 hours a day, 6 days a week with one day off per week. Unfortunately, WWTLC will not offer child care this year. Your work is graciously welcomed on a volunteer basis in support of women and girls, forever. Thank you for being part of returning our community to our sacred Land!

Please direct any questions to volunteer@wwtlc.org.

If you believe in safe spaces, women only retreats, separatism, girls exploring the woods, hanging out in nature, or any thing like that at all: PLEASE REBLOG THIS POST!!!

Kara Hahn started this petition to Carlos Cordeiro, President, US Soccer Federation and 1 other

We support the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team in their fight against gender discrimination in professional sports.  We call on the U.S. Soccer Federation Board of Directors to do the right thing and end gender discrimination in soccer for the sake of future generations of young women athletes and the integrity of the sport.

On International Women’s Day, the world champion team filed a gender discrimination suit against the U.S. Soccer Federation, citing salary disparities and unequal support, including inferior training, promotion, and playing conditions than their male counterparts. Despite consistently greater success on the field than the U.S. Men’s Soccer team, the three-time world champion, four-time Olympic gold medal U.S. Women’s Soccer team continues to be paid a fraction of the salary paid to members of the men’s team. In addition, unequal treatment by the federation often exposes female athletes to more hazardous conditions to practice, train, perform, and recover.

The team's lawsuit comes at a time when women are increasingly empowered to fight for equality throughout society. Young girls around the world look to the players on the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team as role models who exemplify unmatched strength, ability, talent, and fearlessness. The team stands as a testament to U.S. Title IX, the 1972 federal legislation that guarantees equal opportunity in education, which greatly advanced women’s athletics. Their lawsuit sends a message of solidary with women worldwide who are fighting for equality in the workplace and presents an important teachable moment for our children, both girls and boys, about gender discrimination and the ongoing fight for women’s equal rights.

Sign this petition if you believe that attaining gender equality is critical to the wellbeing of all members of society, and find the inequality between the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams to be unacceptable. We have cheered these women on to championships on the field, and now it is time for us to cheer them on in court. We stand in solidarity with the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team.

Alternatives for Women, a Picton organization helping women escape domestic abuse, is renovating a home in Prince Edward County.

Once finished, it will be the first women’s shelter in the community.

Leah Morgan, the organization’s executive director, says that Alternatives for Women currently pays for transportation to get women to shelters in either Napanee or Belleville.

But it’s a situation that doesn’t always work for everyone, she added.

“There are a number of women that just can’t leave the area because this is where their children’s school is, this is where they work, where their support system is,” Morgan explained.

“Since April 1st we’ve had 16 women refuse to leave dangerous situations because they didn’t want to leave the county,” she added.

In addition to an emergency bed, the new shelter will also house four transitional units and one long-term affordable apartment.

The entire project comes at a budget of about $500,000 and they hope to open their doors by September.

But the organization says that they can’t fund the project alone and are looking to the community to help raise the funds through a GoFundMe campaign.

Any radfems in New Zealand?? Feel free to message me! I’d love to talk to some sisters from NZ :)

Hey guys - Cos and I have been talking about our move quite a lot recently, but we haven’t spoken much about the financial aspects of it all. Unfortunately, we’re falling quite a lot short and we’re trying to do whatever we can to make this happen. I am unable to take out a loan here (I’ve tried) nor do I qualify for a credit card (tried that too). Even if you can’t donate, a simple reblog or reading through it would help us out quite a lot! If you have any questions, feel free to message either of us. I’ve never been super comfortable asking for money for any reason, but we’re running out of options here. I just want to get my family to our new home. If you do share or donate, thank you in advance!

in 20 minutes??? I just posted!! holy shit thank you so much guys I love you all

Recently the Vancouver Rape Relief & Women’s Shelter had it’s city funding cut due to claims of transphobia. That means that they will lose out on $34,312 that the city had originally approved. Vancouver Rape Relief & Women’s Shelter is Canada’s oldest rape crisis center, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The shelter was established in 1973 and has operated a feminist transition house since 1983, offering women shelter from men who are abusing them, including fathers, husbands, sons, pimps, johns and landlords.

This is one of the few female spaces left for women in need. Please consider helping:

Hey California radfems!

Sen. Scott Wiener has introduced legislation that would require all incarcerated people be housed according to their gender identity.

This is a direct attack on the safety of vulnerable women.

Please call your state senator BEFORE APRIL 23RD and urge them to vote NO on SB132! You can call every single day!

You can find your senator by going to www.findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov

Please signal boost this everyone!

Suggested script: “I’m calling to urge Senator [Name] to vote NO on SB132 and protect vulnerable women in custody who require single-sex spaces for their own safety.”

This will endanger any woman in the penal system, including trans identified females….. if this law REQUIRES it, guess who is getting housed with males? Horrible.

Do we have a California blog?

do you guys know one?
