omg I swear the 1830’s lyric is gonna drive me crazy. times like these when I realise we ALL spend too much time online because a) how that line has gotten so many people up in arms and b) how frustrated I am by that. like the screenshots conveniently leave out the very next lines where she says nostalgias a trick and she knows it was never fun back then and she’d hate it if she went there. she doesn’t want to go to the 1830’s ? do people always take things so literally… ???? like there is a line in another song where she refers to herself as an Aston Martin. do u think she thinks she’s a Car???

(the whole point of this song is her using escapism to deal with (or rather, not deal with) whatever she’s experiencing. a bad line does not mean a bad songwriter)

#I have gotten better at disengaging with shit if I’m not interested in it#but people are sooooo annoying about this 1830’s line. you guys remember hey kids spelling is fun! right#she uses tongue in cheek phrases all the time#and she has lots of good lyricism and some not so good lyricism#we all spend too much time online#that’s the thesis of my argument#who cares if she said 1830’s 😭 that’s like 20 years after pride and prejudice is set 😭 like so whattttttttttt
