“There’s a part, for instance, where Lindsey and I are sitting at a piano, singing ‘Angel’ and looking at each other. There’s a certain thing that goes on between us; it always has and probably always will. But it’s there, on the tape! It’s incredible - and kind of frightening. You can see all of what’s gone on between us for the last ten years.” [x]

"Look, I said we could share a blanket, but I swear to god, if you stick your cold feet to my leg /one more time/..."

“Alright, I’m sorry!” Lindsey whined, scooting as far away from her as he could without falling off the bed. “I’m trying to cuddle with you.”

“Maybe you could come to England with me for a while. I have a farm and a studio set up in the basement. Some relaxation, some music, a change of scenery may be conducive to your creativity.” Sue gave a shrug. “Just a thought.”

When they pulled up to the hotel, Sue got out. “”I’ll be back in a few minutes. You can come up if you want to get out of this scorching heat.”

“That’s very true.” He replied, sighing as he unbuckled his seatbelt. “I could always go for some peace and quiet, and.. for some A/C.” He joked, immediately getting out of the car and following her inside.

Sue glanced at him while they chatted. She’d been in California many times on tour, so she didn’t gawk like a tourist anymore. Rather, she was more interested in her company. “It fell like forever as there was a lay over in Dallas. I’m so used to direct flights.” She laughed. “Those days are over. It’s nice to be alone, so to speak. I mean without the shadow over me. Just me doing music.”

“Yeah, I understand. It’s always very freeing to go out alone.” He said, nodding slowly as he listened intently to her. He sighed and leaned his head against his hand. “I need to leave California soon. The traffic is so anger-inducing.”

He nods, and suddenly his fingers are dancing along the fretboards of his acoustic, his gaze finally settling upon her as he sighs. “Are you thinking about it now?” He asks, picking quietly at the strings, his brows now furrowed in thought.

“It’s this BMW over here.” He replied, walking over and sighing, immediately unlocking the door for her before getting in on the other side. “She’s new.” He said once Sue got in, a bright grin on his face and his brows raised. “Bought her a few weeks ago.

Sue settled into the car after being guided to it. “Lovely. She has the sleek seventies lines with the eighties in mind. Oh, I’m staying a few blocks away at the Days Inn.” She laughed at herself. It was clear she was no longer on The Stones’ dime. She was proud of that fact. Living on her own was fun and exciting.

“Well, we’ll be there soon.” He said happily, turning the radio up as soon as he started the car, sighing as he pulled out of his parking spot. “So how was the trip here? Did it take long?”

Sue kissed his cheek and smiled. “You could drive me over, wait there and we can go right to dinner afterward. Save a little time. I’m sorry, I should’ve thought, but I’m not used to the time change yet.”

“It’s all good. Let’s go.” He said, his cheeks turning a noticeable shade of red once he realized that she had kissed him. He sighed and held out his hand, his brows raising as he grinned shyly. “Shall we?”

Sue blushed a bit and looked at her attire. “I didn’t expect to go out. I figured straight to work. Perhaps I could go back to the hotel and change into something more appropriate.” Seeing he was as nervous as she was rather reassuring. She rested a hand on his forearm. “I won’t be long. Promise.”

“Yeah, sure, okay!” He said, attempting to sound cheerful. He gently patted her hand and sighed, shoving both hands into his pockets. “I’ll wait here. You don’t have to rush, I really don’t mind waiting.”
