seeing dndads art pop up on my dash from you was a surprise xkxjhchd greetings fellow son appreciator

y’all don’t even KNOW how much I love that podcast. It’s probably my favorite piece of media being made right now.

I don’t blog about it more because it’s like, content for me, ya know? It’s personal. Like this wasn’t made for other people, it was made exclusively for:

  1. People with father issues
  2. People with step-father issues
  3. People who have never done improv, but like to make fun of improv anyway
  4. Geeks who had a horrible anime phase in high school that they regret
  5. People who wrote fanfiction as a young adult which spurred them into weird writing careers
  6. Geeks who had a mortifying libertarian phase in high school which we regret
  7. People who over-think everything that could possibly be over-thought
  8. People who enjoy listening to OTHER people overthink things as an act of solidarity
  9. People who not only don’t care when DnD is played incorrectly, but wish to actively watch DnD be played incorrectly, it’s my kink
  10. The ongoing conceptualization and re-imagining of fatherhood as a collective therapy experience
  11. People whose sense of humor is whatever the fuck Beth May is doing
  12. The manifestation of your issues but like with vampires and wizards and dragons in the courtroom of your soul and such

Like, I appreciate that other people listen to this podcast too, but it’s also media specifically made for me as a person. It’s cool y’all are here, but I also wish to be alone with Dungeons and Daddies.

can’t believe that a) this arc has been going on so long that anthony finally decided to just king solomon this shit and metaphorically cut the baby in half to see who’d make the sacrifice, and furthermore, that

b) it actually fucking worked.

like, this episode more than anything has demonstrated that glenn is in fact the better father imo.

because glenn, when faced with the choice between relinquishing his fatherhood, his bond with the person he loved most in this world, his bond with the only fucking family he had left, and the risk of putting nick through the trauma of losing another parent… he sacrificed his own happiness, no questions asked. he prioritized nick’s emotional wellbeing above his own life, happiness, and identity.

but jodie? like… he could have stopped this shit at any time. all he had to do was sing a bar of a song and he would have reclaimed his demonic nature and all the powers that presumably come with it. he could have made short work of donald and daisy. he could have prevented nicholas from being hurt… but he didn’t. he was so attached to the idea of fatherhood and the life he knows was a falsehood, that he was willing to put nicholas in mortal danger to keep the facade going for a little while longer. he prioritized his false identity and happiness over his son’s actual fucking life.

and i know i’m probably wrong about all of this bc i usually am in this arc, but to me, that fkn speaks volumes

IF ANYBODY IS LOOKING FOR GOOD DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS PODCASTS/SHOWS HERE ARE THE ONES THAT I ENJOY:

- Critical Role (Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein): can be watched as a video/twitch stream (live!) or listened to as a podcast! Very classic fantasy, LONG episodes (2-4 hours every episode), they’re all voice actors so it really attaches you too their characters! I’m a simp for Matthew Mercer :), there’s 2 campaigns the first one is 115 episodes and the current second campaign is 120-ish episodes that’s still going!!! A ton of content!!! - Find on, YouTube, Spotify and Twitch!

- The Adventure Zone (Balance and Amnesty): can be listened to on YouTube or listened to as a podcast on Spotify! 3 brothers (who have their own advice show) and their dad! SUPER FUNNY. Easy to follow for first time players/listeners! Emotionally investing!!! I have wept over this podcast!!!!!! There’s a comic book series that’s a novelization of the podcast and it’s super well done! I have laughed so hard I feel like I’ve formed abs listening to this! I personally enjoy their first Campaign ‘Balance’ the best and their second campaign ‘Amnesty’ is my close second! They are on their 3rd campaign and there’s a TON of episodes for each!!! - find on, YouTube and Spotify!

-Dimension 20 (Fantasy High and A Crown of Candy) can be watched on YouTube or listened to as a podcast on Spotify! [I personally prefer to watch the videos because drawings of the characters come up on screen, (even for the side characters that we rarely see!)] Brennan Lee Mulligan is my favourite DM (dungeon master) he does amazing voices and is so great at immersing you in the world him and the other players have created! Fantasy High has a HUGE mystery element that genuinely had me guessing until the end, Brennan said that he wanted to make a game that “was if John Hughes made a Dungeons and Dragons game” and it works amazingly together!! I binged Fantasy High over the summer and the chemestry the cast and characters have is so good it feels like a little family :) A Crown of Candy I’ve just started watching and it’s awesome so far! The characters are so much fun it’s like DnD CandyLand! Also the sets for both campaigns are beautiful!!!! They do a great job of pulling you into and adding life into the world the cast has created!! - find on, YouTube and Spotify!

- Dungeons and Daddies: can be listened to as a podcast on Spotify! I just finished getting caught up on this podcast! It made me LITTERALLY laugh out loud multiple times, it’s about 4 dads who get sucked into a DnD world to rescue their sons, the DM plays all of the kids and all of the characters who aren’t the dads, THE PLOT TWISTS OH MY GOD, I have cried a LOT listening to this podcast, they do this thing at the beginning of each episode where they say a dad fact about their character and they’re always so funny and it’s a great way to start off the episode! Since it’s a podcast the editor adds music and super cool sound effects to really immerse you in their world! LOTS of references and really funny real world-esque jokes, had me hooked from episode one and is still keeping me entertained!!!!!! I love how much stuff the DM lets the players “get away with” when it comes to plans and combat it’s always funny to see what kind of Wile E. Coyote plans they come up with!! - find on, Spotify!

I’ve always detested Betsy Devos. She doesn’t even have an education background.

Students, you’re not powerless here. Contact everyone in your school, convince them to do a student strike. Stay home, or protest outside the school, or whatever. If enough of you refuse to enter the school, they’ll have to close it.

The Last of Us Part 2 Spoilers

Just because they killed a main character doesn’t mean they didn’t care about him.

Just because they killed him in a brutal way doesn’t mean that he was disrespected.

Just because he isn’t alive in the game doesn’t mean that he can’t have his moments.

Just because she’s the “bad guy” it doesn’t mean that she’s a bad character.

Just because the two lesbians don’t end up happy together doesn’t mean that it’s bad representation.

Just because it’s not happy ending doesn’t mean it’s a bad one.

Have your opinions but just think about the game and what they were trying to make. In no way is it perfect, a game will never be perfect and it will never be liked by everyone.

The developers still deserve the credit for spending 7 years to make a game they knew would spark discussion and knew would be divisive like Neil said.

dina’s sexuality: an observation

i feel like one of the most fun things about a new game is delving into and analyzing the characters. and for me, hands down the most interesting character in tlou part ii (and my favorite in the game, tbh) was dina. and while we get a whole load of gameplay with her in the beginning and all of seattle day 1 (though i wish we would’ve gotten more of her), i feel like there are so many things about dina and her past and her overall character i want to just explore and analyze because it makes her that much more enjoyable to me.

one of the main questions surrounding her from the start (i.e. the release of the e3 gameplay trailer in 2018) was no doubt how she sexually identifies. it’s pretty safe to say that dina is a bisexual woman (and we absolutely fucking live for bisexual representation in video games that isn’t choice based). but there was a clip brought to my attention – a very easily missable little dialogue – that an anonymous user in my inbox pointed out to me that reveals so much about dina’s discovery of her sexuality that is really just something that ive been thinking about for days and it is just so intriguing.
