it’s funny to see jacks telling eva not to act as he’s “her friend, husband, lover” like she’s the one who acts romantically, when he is the person who is always taking action. lala shortly afterwards mentions how he seemed prepared to kill for evangeline, and how she was afraid he was going to kiss eva. he also wouldn’t let her talk to any men, actually threatened to kill anyone who was a threat to her and was always touching her and pulling her into hugs and almost kisses. eva herself mentions in this scene that he held her like she was the person he wanted all night. i mean, jacks, it’s self-criticism, love?

David Thewlis was fantastic as Fagin.
We've seen many different versions of Fagin, from the great Ron Moody to... whoever the fuck Michael Caine was playing cos that was not Fagin. And now David Thewlis has done his own take.
I think he hit that perfect balance of being a likable rogue who you do believe does care for Dodge, but also makes you question whether or not he's being genuine. Every time he 'betrayed' Dodge, it felt entirely in-character, even though it mostly turned out to just be a fake betrayal. But their dynamic is easily the heart of the show.
I thought he was great. He also had some of the funniest lines in the show. Hope we get to see more of him in another season.
with the way he was looking at her, smiling at her, speaking to her in that low, hushed voice, and leaning towards her it's no wonder belle basically proposed marriage on the spot
