Random Things I Learned During the Chicago Sense8 Screening Meet-and-Greet

1. Mumbi (Zakia) arrived in Chicago that morning, and you would never know it from her energy. (She’s also a hugger and a kisser and super sweet.)

2. This was Erendira’s (Dani) first trip without her toddler son, and she missed him already.

3. Purab (Rajan) is a regular runner. He doesn’t race, but he can run about 13k (8 miles) easily. (I think that’s what he said. Mostly we talked about the pain 😂)

4. Michael (Bug) insists he’s 6'2" but when challenged admits he’s been told he’s taller. (He definitely seems taller, says the woman whose husband is 6'1").

5. I’ve already mentioned that Max is filming a new movie in Cuba and expects to be there until July. (Don’t ask me what it is about because he went on a semi-existential description.)

6. Maximilien Ewalt (Grace) is heavily promoting the concept of a mural at every location they filmed Sense8. If you’re interested in finding out more about it, I can post a link later.

7. Tino Rodriguez (Fairy) is also an artist. He designed the San Francisco mural currently underway as part of Maximilien’s project. He’s also the artist who created the painting in Lito’s bedroom.

9. Freema (Amanita) couldn’t have been more gracious chatting with fans gushing and fan-girling over her, not just as Neets but as Martha (*cough*).

10. Toby took gracious to a whole other level. The message he left for @ww-n-double-d was completely impromptu, and he had to repeat the first part bc someone can’t work her phone. (🙄)(Ok, this also happened with Max and the reverse happened with Mumbi…)

Brian and Lana were surrounded by people for most of this event, so I have nothing personal to relate from them. But I did find myself standing next to Brian at one point, and he asked me what time the screening was supposed to start, so that was a little odd. And I caught it on video by mistake. Of course.

The Swedes and the Danes are like the French and the English - been at war for hundreds of years, but are now enjoying a peace built on a solid foundation of mutual shade. After becoming acquainted with the Danish numerical system I find myself sympathising with the Swedes.

@imoldbutimstillintothat​ tells me “they call 90 “halvfems” aka half fives and by that they mean 4*20 + 0.5*20. And same goes for 70 which they call halvfjerds. (3*20+0.5*20)”

Haha sorry. They, like the French count by scores (quatre-vingt being 80) I think. So halvfems (half fives) (aka 90) are four score plus one half score of the fifth one or so I have been told. But 100 is hundrede in Danish so they’re not even making consistently no sense.

and this is all without getting into how utterly ridiculous their language is. this is just basic numbers.

It’s that time again! Time for life to smack ol’ teacuphuman right in the boob! My husband is having back issues stemming from a 20 year old spinal injury (thanks, football) and he’s on the verge of being put on medical leave from work, which we very much cannot afford. For those of you who don’t know, I have brittle bone disease so I am on a fixed income thanks to my disability status. My husband is on waitlists for a CT scan and a neurosurgeon, but those could be a 4-18 month wait. His doctor is confident an epidural steroid injection will benefit him in the meantime, but we don’t have any drug coverage and the injection is about $600.

I hate to ask for help, but it’s breaking my heart to see the person who took such excellent care of me when I was ill, in so much pain. He works so incredibly hard for us, and anything I can do to take that pain away, I will do.

So I’m opening up commissions in the hopes of covering some of the cost. I will write anything (almost) in a wide variety of fandoms. I usually write Inception, Teen Wolf, and Les Mis, but I can do original works and other fandoms, as long as I can access materials for reference.

how can ppl say cats are heartless tbh

I once stayed at a game reserve in South Africa, and they had three cheetahs – two males and one female. The boys stuck together (they were brothers), but female cheetahs are solitary, save for when they are raising cubs. Which is hard work for cheetahs, because they don’t/can’t den, she’s working constantly to protect/move her cubs, as well as feeding both them and herself.

Now, these cheetahs ARE in a private reserve, but they’re still essentially wild. But they are more or less accustomed to the presence of people. And this cheetah, Ketswiri, got very badly injured in her leg one time, which usually would be fatal to a cheetah. The staff at the reserve helped her. Another time, she was starving, and they provided her a fresh antelope carcass. And she remembered this, because the science officer was telling us how one time he was watching Ketswiri and her cubs, and she wandered over and dumped all her cubs at his feet, and walked off. Like “watch my kids, I need some me time.” And he was panicking like COME BACK I CAN’T BABYSIT YOUR KIDS WTF

it’s so funny though because domesticated cats are aggressively social in raising their young so basically op’s cat was like bitch these are your kids too, where tf you think you’re going???

My dad told me that he has a coworker who’s a trans woman. She was married to this girl before her transition and they remained together after it. Everyone at work respects her pronouns. My dad is in a chiefing position at his office and he told me that nobody jokes behind her back. She and her wife have two cute dogs together and I felt like I should share this story bc I want everyone to know that this positivity and respect exists and you deserve it. Don’t ever dare think that you don’t because you do.
