Can't have a Yuzu POV without a Karin POV lol~

Karin makes it back before curfew with fifteen minutes to spare. Their brother had extended hers and Yuzu's curfew to 10pm since they'd hit their double-digits, and she's always been mindful to never break it. Yuzu isn't usually one to stay out late, but Karin likes her freedom to wander around without supervision enough that she isn't going to risk a grounding just because she couldn't be bothered to check the time. Besides, she knows kids her age don't get half as much trust or leeway from their guardians, so Karin isn't going to disappoint Ichigo's expectations by not following the few rules he'd set for them.

Not to mention she has exactly zero faith in her own ability - or honestly anyone else's - to slip under her brother's radar anyway. Only an idiot would think they could, and Kurosaki Karin wasn't raised a fool. Sneaking in late isn't even worth considering.

Lmao Shinji is very well aware that this is a fifteen-year-old boy no matter how charmingly violent he is, it's just that Sakanade says the early cat gets the mate, but she'll let Shinji live in denial for a little longer as long as a certain also charmingly violent but pathetically diminished ex-assassin doesn't find his backbone and try to lay a claim, what do you mean we can share.

I've deliberately not thought much about Aizen because it could really go either way, I swear I didn't set out to make this Ichigo and his Harem of Asshole Murderers, but anyway at the very least Ichigo's definitely going to enjoy kicking his ass. What happens along the way and how it's going to end is anybody's guess.

So I just tried to edit my navigation page for this blog a couple days ago and discovered that I can't cuz javascript isn't allowed anymore. From what I looked up, custom theme codes/installed themes shouldn't be affected but hah that's a big fat lie. Basically tumblr is flexing on the podium at hellsite olympics, but what else is new? Anyway, at the moment, the only thing missing from my nav page was the latest Yuzu post for my Stunted Empathy AU and that time travel thing with Tsuna, but like it's kind of a problem going forward. I'll prob have to contact Support and ask them to enable my javascript permissions but I feel tired just thinking about it, plus it's not like this is my only blog, and I'd need permission for all of them since they're prob all not working. So then I was like I could just make a masterlist over on my Dreamwidth, which yes the coding is also a lot of work but at least I don't have to contact anyone and hope they don't accidentally nuke my blog in the process. Anyway, you can access it over here, and I already switched out the masterlist link on my blog's sidebar for this page. Like I said, there's not much difference between this new page and the old one at the moment, aside from the layout obviously, it's not as nice to look at, but if and when I write more stuff, I can just update it on my DW instead, which is easier.

Also while I'm here, you may have noticed the Pinglist link is gone, I just decided to not do that anymore, it's really troublesome cuz I can't just copy/paste it since it doesn't automatically link, so I always had to go through each name and make sure it's pinging everyone. I think most of the people who read my stuff are just the ones already following me anyway 🧡🧡🧡 plus I haven't pinged people in ages so it shouldn't really make much of a difference.

Lol Isshin is very much the outsider to his own family after Ichigo neutralized him, they're basically like two strangers who happen to live in the same house, and even then, Ichigo went and got his own apartment once he had the contacts for it. I wouldn't say he set out to alienate his sisters from Isshin, so long as Isshin wasn't hitting them too, he doesn't really care what their relationship is like, but considering Ichigo's also been pretty much raising them single-handedly for the past 6+ years, they're bound to learn from him when it comes to Isshin too. Plus they do remember the way Isshin used to smack Ichigo around before Ichigo put a stop to it. So anyway, the twins still talk to Isshin and let him be his loud dramatic self around them but there isn't really any love coming from their end when it comes down to it, and they live with their brother at the apartment half the time anyway. As for Ichigo, he actually doesn't hate Isshin or anything either after the man left him to his own devices and doesn't bother him anymore. And yeah, the fact that he's the nominal adult of the house is still useful since Ichigo's still underage. It's just that he also very much wouldn't care if Isshin kicked the bucket tomorrow.

The Urahara/Ichigo/Shinji is also a surprise to me lol. Tbh, I didn't really have a ship in mind when I first started this AU, but UraIchi is my otp so naturally if there is a ship, I'd go for that. But then I wrote Shinji, and suddenly ShinIchi became a lot more probable, and then I wrote the Yuzu POV and Urahara elbowed his way back into the race. So the most likely ship now would be UraIchiShin lol.

The UraIchi dynamic actually turned out pretty interesting in this 'verse cuz this Ichigo is the type to get rid of anything that irritates him. If it's annoying and cuts into his time, he's not the sort to put up with it. And yeah, Kisuke's strong enough with enough connections that if Ichigo wanted to off him or even just threaten him like he did Isshin, it would be really difficult at the moment, but at the very least, he'd still work towards it, and he wouldn't spend any time with the guy. But here he is inviting him over for dinner and letting him properly meet the twins and just generally tolerating his presence, something he's never done with anyone else before, and it's a toss-up whether he's even really aware of the exception he's making. And on Kisuke's part, he doesn't know Ichigo well enough yet to realize how much leeway Ichigo's given him.

This Ichigo is just Grudgingly Fascinatedᵀᴹ by this cryptic bastard making his life a lot more complicated than he'd like, but is also strong and smart and offered his life up on a platter the moment Ichigo asked for it like it's tradeable currency so whatever he wants Ichigo to do in exchange has to be something even Urahara can't do himself, and Ichigo has just enough curiosity for that to add to the fascination pile just as much as it adds to the annoying asshole pile. Meanwhile, Shinji's just chilling with his poison rice, and Sakanade thinks Ichigo is yum with an adorable kitten for a sister. TLDR they're a trainwreck in the making but a pretty entertaining one.

I'm not sure what I really want to do with Mizuiro here yet but I'm definitely giving him a powerup in the future, he's Ichigo's best friend here, as much as Ichigo or even Mizuiro can have friends, and Mizuiro is absolutely ride or die enough to invade Soul Society with him. Plus I'd like to see what I can do with a character who's not exactly a frontline fighter but not a healer either like Ichigo's canon friends.

Thank you 🧡🧡🧡 it totally wasn't planned lol. but it's how she came out, and it was amusing to me that from ichigo's perspective, he thinks they're Normal Children. Like they emote all the time ugh, and they like socializing SO much hOW, and they're cute and tiny and yuzu even pukes over a little brain matter ffs they're like toddling baby animals. So he has to protect them well, but even he can't be in three places at once or keep them with him all the time - not only is that impractical, it would also drive him nuts if he doesn't have any time to himself - so he also teaches them the necessary skills to protect themselves even though he works hard to make sure they never have to use them. (Using them for fun is different though, right? Hobbies should be encouraged, right? Right. That's what all the child-rearing books say.)

Meanwhile, Yuzu and Karin are out here being their best smol terrifying selves, they just hide it a lot better than their brother because they're not quite as bad off as he is when interacting with people, and they do enjoy normal social activities in a way Ichigo just doesn't. But anyway, it's not like Ichigo ever really hides the things he does from them over the years, he doesn't have any concept of not for children's eyes and ears, so even if he doesn't kill a guy in front of them, sometimes they hear about it over dinner anyway. Also it's not like they're stupid, and Ichigo's raised them almost single-handedly since they were five. They were bound to learn a few things from him.

(Also also, sometimes Yuzu needs test subjects for her latest poisons, but she's so bad at finishing the job if it's not an instant kill, no matter how much Ichigo scolds her for it, so what else can he do but take out the garbage for her? Karin at least is much better about cleaning up after herself. Her problem is that sometimes she gets a bit... single-minded, and then she forgets to leave an exit for herself, and this may be Karakura where the scariest thing in it is the monster-child that its underbelly watched grow up in increasingly resigned horror, but she still can't just walk away from her little jaunts to blow off steam with blood caked in her shoes, so Ichigo also has to take care of that for her. His sisters are so high-maintenance. They're lucky he's so used to picking up after them by now.)

Yuzu was a surprise to me too but it was fun writing her. Usually we get her and Karin as the two harmless normal girls in the background who are there for Ichigo to be the protector for, which he still is but they aren’t. It’s a fun dynamic lol.

When Yuzu gets a phone call from Ichigo that they would be having two guests for dinner tonight, she is delighted. In all the years she’s known him, her brother has only ever introduced one person to them as something of a friend. Mizuiro is half a sibling at this point, trusted enough to be around them even when Ichigo isn’t, but before him, and after him, nobody else has ever caught Ichigo’s eye enough to warrant an actual invitation to dine with their family.

“They’re related to ghost stuff,” Ichigo adds bluntly, and Yuzu understands that to mean that these two will at least be tougher than the average yakuza on the street, even if they can’t match up to her brother.

“I understand!” She chirps back cheerfully. “I’ll let Karin know. I can’t wait to meet them!”

Then she hangs up, rolls up her sleeves, and gets to work in the kitchen. No guests of her brother’s will ever accuse them of being ungracious hosts on her watch.

(Karin comes home from soccer practice half an hour later. She laughs, as Yuzu does, when Yuzu tells her of their impending guests.)

Thank you! At the moment, I'm not taking any requests. Occasionally I open inbox for some 5+ headcanon asks but that's just when I'm feeling up to it. I might do that again sometime soon.

LMAO, yeah I considered expanding on it a bit, maybe have Hadrian show hints of what he wants to do (a la Hufflepuff!Hadrian going after Skeeter and there was a whole lead up with Orion following him), but I felt like this version of him wouldn't really work that way, his line of thought would be more Notices Threat -> Schedule Threat Neutralization Plan Into The Following Week -> Deal With Threat -> Move On, and that would be it. To him, it wouldn't really be anything special or worth brooding over, it's just something he has to do so he did it. Like homework or laundry. His priorities, morals, and method of handling things is kind of skewed lol, but he also doesn't entirely realize how that makes him appear in other people's eyes besides earning a reputation of being too strong to fuck with, which he thinks should just make everyone stay away from him. I guess it's also partly the fact that he isn't used to the way Slytherins react to power even though Draco taught him the whole "Slytherins respect power" thing. He's working off the assumption that that just means everyone will be afraid of him and stick him at the top of the hierarchy cuz like /pulls out 1 of 100 powerpoint slides on Voldemort's Everything/, and yeah some are like that, but it also doesn't occur to him that others are just as likely to react with "hot damn, gotta get in on that".

This Hadrian is basically the type to tell Blaise "there's something wrong with you" while casually cobbling together a nightmare ward that'll give that pesky seventh-year asshole who'd called his Slytherin not-friends a bunch of slurs last week a permanent one-way ticket to the long-term care ward.
