Who Am I? 

Most folks usually shorten it to Draco. I’ve been known as dracoqueen22 ever since I first entered fandom way back in 2004 with my tiptoe into Samurai Champloo, and I’ve never once changed my username to make it easier to find me (and my terrible, terrible early attempts at writing). 

Presently, I am most active in my original fiction, and I’m likely going to dive back into the old fandom -- Final Fantasy 7 -- but honestly, I’m all about my original works right now. 

I am an Adult, closer to 40 than 30. I use she/her pronouns. I am a lesbian. 

What do I do? 

Write mostly. Fanfic, often. Original fic frequently. Queer. Fantasy. SciFi. Monsterfucking. Dark themes. Gritty themes. Existential crises. Perils of blind faith. Cute and saucy romance. Anything that gets my heart a-thumping.

The armour of Laios Touden from Delicious in Dungeon. I always love finding a Japanese author who's done their research on armour from another continent and assembled something believable for their medieval-based European characters.

The parts are:

  • Gorget, protecting the neck
  • Pauldrons, protecting the shoulder
  • Cuirass, the plate armour protecting the back and front of the torso above the waist (a breastplate is only the front part of a cuirass)
  • Vambraces, protecting the lower arm
  • Faulds, protecting the front between the waist and groin. The equivalent protecting the back side is the culet. I'm assuming these are faulds and culet as they have the horizontal lines that on real armour were segments of plate
  • Update: This has been confirmed to be a hauberk, as it’s a robe of chainmail! Thank you to @lucky-fy A hauberk or mail skirt (depending on how high on the body it starts from) provides flexible extra protection for the groin and tops of the thighs
  • Poleyn, protecting the knee
  • Greaves, protecting the lower leg.

Voting is harm reduction. Period.

Additionally: attempts to drive up votes and encourage people to make plans about it and prioritize voting? Not being able to avoid the buzz of "get out and vote for Biden, yes, even if you're angry"?

That's part of a specific strategy designed to result in more turnout and hence a higher odds of success. I am sorry if that pisses you off, and I encourage you to blacklist some keywords to curate your online experience. But again, from a harm reduction oriented approach, drumming up votes and making it extremely difficult to forget what the stakes are, and trying to get people to turn out and get their votes in? That works to get people out to polls. Making a plan and telling your friend about it works. Reminding people to check out the League of Women Voters writeups works. Reminding people to check their poll status works.

(It's also a thing some people are absolutely doing to self-soothe fears of another Trump presidency. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. If it's irritating you, mute the keywords and tags.)

When we are organizing for voter turnout, understand that we are organizing for the most good-hearted, scatter-brained, executive-function-deficient person you know. We are trying to catch every vote, because the stakes continue to be very high, and that means reminding the forgetful. It means offering our friends rides and finding out early who needs that ride. It means making sure that our addresses are right and that all the paperwork needed for absentee voting is in order. We are chivvying our friends who struggle with planning to the poll stations and minimizing the obstacles to getting there and making our voices heard.

If the exhortations to vote aren't about you because you're going to grit your teeth and do it, and if you are confident that you'll get your ass to the polling station, you can stop listening. It's okay. Just do your part, please, for the love of fuck.
