JACE & ALEC SHADOWHUNTERS (1.05)
Did you finish SOTR already??? Thoughts? 😶🌫️
Oh yeah, I finished it in about two days. Actively sobbed during half of it, mainly the last chapter and the epilogue, while listening to Omnia's rendition of The Raven. 10/10, strong contender for book of the year already.
On a slightly more in-depth note, I loved the theme of how revolutions take time and are ultimately a sacrifice that you might see the result of years and years down the line or even not at all. It very strongly resonated with me because while it's obviously far from Panem, my homeland has spent a solid 30 years trying to dredge its way out of a dictatorship and its current successors in power and it's a slow and frustrating thing - the realisation that it takes almost 50 years for a regime to be brought down and decades after that trying to clean up and get the country back to being free, or at least as free as it ever was. I grew up at protests and riots and I'm still here participating in them as an adult, and I've frequently thought 'god, this is taking fucking forever' and I'm not gonna lie, reading that did manage to placate some of my frustration.
were I to create an original piece of media I would create bait so queer in order to create a fanfic environment I like. I find you guys do your best work under duress.
I’d say “jeez can two people not be friends anymore?” and then I’d give one of them amnesia in which they only recognize the other above anyone else

Hello, old friend. And here we are, you and me, on the last page. DOCTOR WHO S07E05 The Angels Take Manhattan
But if it weren’t for my children, I’d have thrown myself from the highest window in the Red Keep. They’re the reason I’m alive. Even Joffrey? Even Joffrey.

why are dudes in fanfic always getting hit with freight train orgasms. why not an orient express orgasm, classy and romantic. where are the shinkansen train orgasms? his orgasm hit him like the TGV atlantique breaking the passenger rail speed record. like the shanghai maglev, his orgasm was a feat of engineering but something of a commercial disappointment.
Don’t tell me delayed orgasms aren’t a thing
learning new things about the german rail system today
Amtrak Orgasms are just incredibly underfunded and have to stop because the freight trains own the tracks and are going incredibly slow
If your orgasm hits you like the BDZ (a.k.a. the Bulgarian State Railways), that means you've been at it for about five hours and your partner keeps stopping at seemingly random and unexplained intervals and taking detours they didn't warn you about, the room is either too cold or too hot and when you finally get there, you feel tired, overstimulated, relieved that it's over and generally defeated.
"my skin has turned to porcelain, to ivory, to steel."
my favorite pov character :) i wanted to depict how she changes her appearance and especially her clothes to fit into the king's landing court, shedding as much of her northern culture as she can, but still keeping some remnants of it by wearing stark colors and jewelry. in my mind, she both reutilizes fabric by making it into new gowns, and also is gifted/borrows gowns from other ladies of the court

I know that realistically you can only fit so many movies into a list of approximately 100, but I cannot take that "How many of tumblr's favorite movies have you seen?" list that's been going around seriously because there are some truly egregious omissions.
Some of it is very clearly recency bias, which makes me wonder if the op truly wasn't on here in 2013 or so, but you're telling me you made a list of "tumblr's favorite movies" that doesn't include Pacific Rim or Mad Max: Fury Road? Because, like, I was there, Gandalf.
I'm a ridiculous human and genuinely couldn't sleep until I tried my hand at a better, more balanced list -- though of course, I have my own biases when it comes to what corners of this website I've lurked in over the years. For what it's worth, I did consult the last several Years In Review, while also drawing on the fact that I've been here for over a decade. But if there's anything that truly doesn't feel like it should have made the cut, blame my mutuals for putting it on my dash all the time.
(And apologies, but I couldn't seem to find Goncharov among the website's listings)
After seeing it in bookstores (and rec lists) a thousand times, I finally bought and started reading The Charm Offensive and I'm not very far into it yet, but am deeply enchanted and glad to see the representation for 'touching is tolerable if you just warn me first because otherwise I Will lose it' because I have never once explained this to people without feeling fucking insane.
Also deeply felt the "birthdays are a twenty-four-hour anxiety trap", oof.
Also also, my commute to work is so long that I started at the birthday part and got to this bit halfway through said commute and had to stop reading because I started ✨crying on the bus✨.
