New Art Tumblr!

Hi, all! I’m making a new art tumblr at kotalinejones.tumblr.com!

It’s always frustrated me that this account has been a sideblog, so I can’t follow who I like as easily, and both this and my main blog are very old now. I’m lucky that being on Tumblr when I was was always a super positive experience for me, and it’s not an understatement to say this blog was essential to my creative growth.

With the things happening over at the -other- blue social media network, I just want to have more of an art-forward presence on here. Feel free to follow me on my new account for more of what I’ve been posting on this one, plus a little more reblogging/boosting of other artists I love. :) I’ll still try to reblog new stuff I post there to this account, and I hope I can follow and support more of you better, too!

Hello! The rumor is a certain billionaire bought a certain bird site, so I’m going to be actively trying to be more on other platforms, including here! Not that I ever left, but here’s a little reintroduction post since I’ve been kind of quiet.

I’m Kotaline Jones! You probably know me for fanart or zine projects, especially Fire Emblem fanart, but I’m also a cartoonist and editor. :) I’m working on an original retro sci-fi project right now called “SINCERITY MACHINE”, and I love making books with people! Nice to meet you, and for long time followers, nice to be reacquainted.

My two cards for @hanakohanafuda, which is currently having leftover sales! I was assigned two cards for the month of October, which is represented by deer + maple leaves in a Hanafuda deck! This is the month that the gods convene at Izumo, so it can be read as the month with or without gods, + traditionally the deer and maple leaves symbolize longevity.

I chose Akane and Sumire because of their relationship with the gods/supernatural and how their lineage is long like the symbolism in red maple and stag for longevity, but contrast with the irony of their individual lifespans, intended to be short. The deer is colored with a palette that draws from Aoi Akane, because of his choice to become supernatural to help preserve Akane's longevity, and the rocks at Sumire's feet are the graves of the children that were sacrificed before her to preserve the longevity of her lineage.

trying to learn csp this year! here’s the first illustration i really finished in it.

Designs for a 6 sided Hoshido-themed metal and enamel dice I was asked to design for a KS project early last year! The project is live now and features dice inspired by Fates, 3H, and Awakening!
