のほも is such a good word?? the concept is kind of hard to fully get across in translation, but basically it means a feeling of pure, deep, platonic affection, and i think thats beautiful

right so i decided to look up the origins of 月が綺麗ですね cause i knew what it meant but not who came up with it

and turns out it’s also the title of this purely wholesome yuri manga which makes it so much better

日本語で愛の言葉、例えば「月が綺麗ですね」、は英語の言葉よりロマンチックだと思う
i think words of love in japanese, for example “the moon is beautiful, isn’t it (i love you)”, are more romantic that the english words

久しぶりみんな〜

i haven’t been active for ages but i am still learning japanese of course and it’s hard to believe it but i’m actually getting better!

i feel like using hello talk is the main reason cause i’ve talked to so many native japanese people about a whole load of things and i learnt those niche things that you don’t get taught in textbooks either.

i low key wish one of my irl friends did japanese as well cause i just want a language buddy to learn japanese with cause it would be so much more fun but oh wellll

also i’m just gonna shamelessly plug my revision resource store on instagram @revision_made so go check it out if you want i’m selling helpful stuff for a wide range of topics including japanese of course!

who has a new music obsession…

me

I found ZUTOMAYO after watching all the music videos for 三月のパンタシア on yt and I got hooked

it's such a different feeling of music to 三月のパンタシア but I love both of them

ビートはかなりファンキーだから、私の好きなZUTOMAYOの歌は『お勉強しといてよ』だ。でも、私の好きな歌詞は「きっと水でさえ この熱でさえ」や「生まれて死ぬまでを 人間は」、これらは『ヒューマノイド』の歌詞だ。
my favourite ZUTOMAYO song is "お勉強しといて" because the beat is quite funky. but my favourite lyrics include "きっと水でさえ この熱でさえ" and "生まれて死ぬを 人間は", these are lyrics from "ヒューマノイド".

I started listening to 「三月のパンタシア」 songs

and I just love bitter sweet so much and I've listened to it on repeat all day and I honestly can't stop

I'm also gonna print out some of the album covers and art to put on my wall cause why not

I love their motto as well:

終わりと始まりの物語を空想する
fantasize the story of the beginning of the end

I downloaded hellotalk and tandem so I could talk to native japanese and spanish speakers (cause I do spanish in school as well)

on hellotalk I've got only japanese natives

and on tandem I've only got spanish speakers

so one app for each I guess and it's actually pretty fun, even though it gets hella confusing with all the timezones

doing this has made me realise how little conversational japanese I actually know from doing duolingo, i've been using google translate half the time to understand what everyone is saying

I have a new friend called mui. she is japanese and 16 years old.

yagate kimi ni naru is my new favourite anime/manga because it's so adorable

yuu-san and touko-senpai just make my lesbian heart sooo happy

I'm the same height as yuu, but a year younger so I've got time to find my touko

やりアニメのせいで、今は彼女が本当に欲しいだよ
because of yuri anime I really want a girlfriend now ya know

i've got a playlist for japanese songs on my spotify even though I barely understand anything that's going on

can't believe this playlist is over 11 hours long though, probably all the yorushika songs in there

but I have stated translating the titles like my favourite yorushika song 「だから僕は音楽を辞めた」 which means "so I quit music" and I learnt two new words from there

  • だから ~ so/because
  • 辞める(やめる) ~ to quit
日本の音楽はすごいだからたくさん聞く!
I listen to japanese music a lot because it's great!

Starting bullet journaling? Here are some tips:

  1. Take it easy. You don't have to use ALL your Japanese stationery on your first spread. Maybe just start with a couple of pens.
  2. Don't worry if you don't follow it through the first time. But don't stop. Make one for next week. Try to follow that.
  3. Some yearly pages to start with: Books read, movies watched (pro tip: give your personal 5 star review so if you ever wanna watch an old movie you can just go through this list), year in pixels, goals for the year, achievements, places travelled, and anything else you're interested in. Don't do them ALL. Just pick the ones you feel like recording.
  4. Monthly spreads: MAKE A LITTLE CALENDAR. I know at first it seems cute but pointless, but trust me, you'll be using it a lot. A bigger calendar to record all the events of the month. Moodchart, sleep tracker, habit tracker, youtube/tumblr/Instagram/blog posts tracker (if you have a page), spendings tracker, diet chart and whatever else you feel like. Again you don't need to do ALL of them.
  5. Weekly spreads: You can track any of the monthly charts weekly too, whatever works for you (like I track my habits weekly). Deadlines for the week (if you're in college TRY THIS. I swear you'll find it useful.), weekly goals, word of the day, quote of the day, current book, daily tasks etc.
  6. DON'T WORRY IF YOU AREN'T ABLE TO GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH. Just start again next week.
  7. A bullet journal doesn't need an expensive notebook, washi tape, loads of highlighters, stickers etc. It just needs your determination. (But it CAN have those things if that's your vibe.)

I hope this was helpful :)

i don’t even know how i found this channel but dogen is hilarious

and he mainly only speaks in japanese during his videos with english subtitles that he makes so you can then turn in the japanese auto-generated captions and look at some of the sentence structures and grammar he uses too

毎晩、たくさんのドーゲンさんのビデオを見る
every night, i watch a lot of dogen’s videos
