Captain Swan: A Poem
That was a one-time thing. Swan, you know that’s not true.
For you, my love, I would trade my ship and sail the ocean blue.
We share the same pain, of past loved ones lost,
But I don’t know what I would have done, had our paths never crossed.
We climbed that beanstalk together. It all started there.
I told you, Emma, we make quite the pair.
Taking you to Neverland to save your boy was the honorable thing to do.
What it ended up starting, for me, it has always true.
Your father may not have approved of me a first.
I think that all started to change after I helped “quench his thirst.“
Our first kiss, according to you, would be the only one ever.
Fate, it seems, had different plans, however.
Dark Hollow was where I first admitted I was falling.
It seemed at the time, you only found me galling.
I never thought that I would be capable of letting go.
That is, until I met you and my life started to glow.
You’ve grown so much from the lost girl that you used to be.
I think that is something on which the both of us can agree.
Upon our return, you were soon forced to once again leave.
Not a day went by where I didn’t think of you, if you can believe.
I gave Blackbeard my ship, in exchange for a bean.
I braved the streets of New York City to find you, and at first you weren’t so keen.
In fact, you had me thrown in the brig, how barbaric that now seems.
But I finally got you to drink that potion and wake you from those dreams.
When we went back to Storybrooke, I swore on Emma Swan.
Not long before, your first love was gone.
For you I would go to the ends of the earth, or time.
In the past, together we even ended up committing a crime.
Many years ago, in a tavern, something with a bar wench began brewing.
Oh, and don’t forget the first rule: to pick a partner who knows what he’s doing.
Your jacket, that dress, Swan, you look amazing in red.
Your beauty, my love, not enough words can be said.
I stood by you as you watched your parents fall in love,
And then helped fix your mistakes, which there were a lot of.
Back in the present a new age seemed to dawn.
You even introduced me to Netflix and we watched what was on.
In my time with you, I have become quite the modern man.
I can even use that talking phone, almost like you can.
Any day of the week I would have replaced you in that ice cave.
A life without you is one I could never brave.
I held you in my arms as you warmed in that blanket by the heater.
Right then and there, I thought my life couldn’t get any sweeter.
I was wrong, because soon, it was you who stepped up and asked me out.
Even though I am old-fashioned, I wasn’t about to argue with that route.
To the Dark One, I traded my hook for my hand,
In hopes that a second date, I would land.
I know now that I don’t need to change.
How I ended up with someone as amazing as you, I will always find strange.
The Crocodile removed my heart from my chest.
I am sorry I didn’t tell you, Swan. I should have confessed.
I just wanted to be a better man for you. I didn’t want to let you down.
Most of all, I didn’t want you to lose focus on the town.
You didn’t think I was a fan of your magic, so pure and so true?
Love, I’ll have you know that I am a fan of every part of you.
You were the one to put my heart back where it was supposed to be.
I know that you were just afraid of losing me.
I told you Swan, I’m a survivor, one-hundred percent,
Just as you are the Savior, and my heaven sent.
Every time you call me Killian, my heart skips a beat.
Don’t forget about that one time we kissed in the street.
You told me once I have a mark as a hero.
Thank you for that, because it felt like I had zero.
If there is any time that you want me to bring you your onion rings or grilled cheese,
Don’t think I won’t go as far as sailing the seven seas.
It has always been a pirate’s life for me.
Still, “the best” is the only thing in me you choose to see.
It has taken a while to find my happy ending.
After all of that heartbreak, it was you who did the mending.
Swan, if there is but one thing on which you should have a clue,
My happy ending, don’t you know Emma? It’s you.
