OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH
Mermen (2x08)
netizens are desensitising gruesome things that are taking place in Palestine.
even the internetβs reaction to graphic things such as - pictures of injured children, civilians stuck under rubble, dead bodies of families in their destroyed homes etc. is beyond underwhelming.
DO NOT NORMALISE GENOCIDE.
BREAK THE STIGMA.

Living for this absolute chaos I woke up to in my sapphic group at 7am this morning
Current mood after not seeing Tigress in the trailer/poster or Angelina Jolie being listed as part of the cast.
also the way that the nimona movie showed that hate is a taught behavior?? the way that gloreth, the hero worshipped for slaying monsters, was fully accepting of nimona until her mother told her what to believe? until that generational bigotry was passed down? the way the directorβs motive wasnβt even power like most evil government figureheads in media, but rather a fear of monsters destroying the kingdom because that hate had been instilled in her too, like it had in gloreth? the way ballister was also indoctrinated into hatred of βmonstersβ until he was just as outcast as one? because only then was he willing to change and learn?? and how even people with good hearts and good intentions like ballister and ambriosius and even the queen herself are still capable of perpetuating bigotry and unnecessary violence when they donβt take the time to understand or learn about the βothersβ they supposedly hate????????? i need to lie down
βDid you see the way that little girl looked at me? Kids. Little kids. They grow up believing that they can be a hero if they drive a sword into the heart of anything different. And Iβm the monster? I donβt know whatβs scarier. The fact that everyone in this kingdom wants to run a sword through my heart or that sometimes I just wanna let βem.β βWe have to get you out of here. Over the wall. We wonβt stop until we find some place safe, okay? Weβll go. Together. No matter what we do, we canβt change the way people see us.β βYou changed the way you see me... Didnβt you?
NIMONA (2023), based on the comic by ND Stevenson, who came out as transgender in 2022
your honour their married and thats their child
Nimona made me cry. Nimona truly felt like it was made for me. This is a movie that tells our story. And that left me sobbing.
the trans allegory in nimona is actually insane (positive) like you guys were right we need more movies like this
Some people have been saying this, but I don't think it's been said enough and I'm just going to add my voice to the mix.
Nimona's nomination is being framed as an example of "Look at what Disney missed out on!" and I get it. It's a nice, tasty schadenfreude situation and we all like to see The Mouse get taken down a peg.
But I think we need to be very clear; Disney did not miss out on anything because they were never going to take that sort of risk.
absolute funniest thing to me is Disney scrapping Nimona only for netflix to take it and get it oscar nominated while Wish, Disney's 100th anniversary movie, got nothing. karma really is a bitch
Watched Nimona finally, love that lil shit
Yeah so everybody knows this movie is an allegory for people with gender identities that aren't accepted in the greater society, and subsequent suffering those people experience when struggling with that environment. Nobody can look at that movie and say it was just about a monster, come on. There were so many golden lines that could be used word for word about a non-binary or trans person's struggles with their identity and place in the world. The world needs more representation like Nimona π©·
